Dustin Poirier has finally accepted the callout of Colby Covington.

‘El Diamante’ and ‘Chaos’ were teammates in the past. However, after Covington made some changes in the way he would approach his UFC career, or in other words, when Covington bashed everybody who came on his radar, the two had a rift.

Ahead of UFC 271, ‘Diamond’ had made a statement during the media day. Poirier said, “I will never fight Colby Covington in the UFC, if we fight, I’m going to jail.”

However, the new tweets from Poirier suggest otherwise. Apparently, Poirier is willing to get locked with Covington, however, it wouldn’t be inside a jail, These two superstars could get locked inside a UFC Octagon if things go in the right direction.

Poirier went on a tweet spree and even targeted all fighters at 155 to 170 lbs, including Conor McGregor and Kamaru Usman, before mentioning Covington and accepting the fight for UFC 277.

Poirier noted in his tweet to Covington, “July 30th i accept”

According to reports, UFC will head to Dallas, Texas for UFC 277 on July 30th. It’s interesting to see Poirier visiting the Covington route, as even Nate Diaz is looking to fight in the same period. Besides, Diaz had a similar tweet to Poirier.

Anyhow, it’s fascinating what made Poirier change his stance on never fighting Covington. Was Poirier bothered by the constant call-outs? Thus, he wants to pay Covington inside the Octagon. Or is it just too good of an opportunity to miss financially?

Will Colby Covington fight Dustin Poirier at UFC 277?

Covington is not too active on social platforms since his alleged incident with Jorge Masvidal not too long ago. That said, he has already expressed his interest in fighting Poirier.

However, according to reports, Covington is suffering from some severe injuries after the incident outside Papi Steak restaurant in Miami Beach. Thus, could he be able to compete on July 30th?
