After Dana White confirmed Colby Covington as the opponent for the welterweight champion, Leon Edwards, following the events of UFC 287, the entire world was left with eyes wide open. While many fans questioned the UFC president’s decision, one name stood prominent amongst the others. It was none other than that of Jorge Masvidal.
Masvidal and Covington shared a history, wherein the duo allegedly entered a physical scuffle in Miami. However, ‘Gamebred’ wasn’t ready to drop his rivalry with Covington. The former UFC fighter recently appeared in an interview with Chamatkar Sandhu, where he opened up on the fight between his former opponent and the UFC welterweight champion.

During the conversation with the former owner of the BMF belt, Sandhu wanted to learn the fighter’s opinion on Covington’s potential fight with Edwards. Although Masvidal was of the belief that the fight had a high chance of coming to reality, he wasn’t completely in support of Covington.
The former UFC contender claimed that ‘Chaos’ would do nothing but “hug” his opponent’s leg, and never let go. It would indeed turn the fight into a boring charade. Then, Masvidal revealed his darker side. He said, “I hope that Leon drives his knee through Colby’s eye orbital and splatters his eyeball. But, who knows? It could be, it could be a tough one for Leon, as well.”
Masvidal still seemed to carry some grudge against ‘Chaos’. Nevertheless, he also believed that Edwards might face some problems while facing Covington. He compared Edwards’ wrestling prowess with that of the former welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman. He believed that ‘Rocky’ wasn’t as defensive with his moves as someone like Usman, and that could create problems for him during the fight.
