Sean Strickland‘s words may not be too kind towards Khamzat Chimaev. ‘Borz’ just recently secured a win over who Dana White calls “the greatest welterweight” out there. So, will his win over Kamaru Usman at UFC 294 be enough to convince ‘Tarzan’ that Chimaev is a worthy opponent?

The former welterweight fighters fought at middleweight at UFC 294. The fight happened after Paulo Costa pulled out, hence nudging Usman to take over instead. Now, after an impressive performance from both of them, fans can’t help but wonder: can either of the two take on middleweight champion Sean Strickland? ‘Tarzan’ on the other end is certain of one of the fighters not being worthy.

Sean Strickland snatched the title from Israel Adesanya in a major upset at UFC 293. Since then, he’s been riding the high like no other. After all, he did beat the champion fair and square by being the better fighter. Now, fans can’t help but wonder if he’s ready to take on a challenge from fighters of different divisions.

Khamzat Chimaev is most certainly a fearsome fighter. However, is he any match for Strickland? ‘Tarzan’ himself has claimed how he and Chimaev are “different” while also acknowledging the fighter’s skills. But does he think Chimaev has earned a title fight against him? He recently laid his thoughts bare about the same.

“He’s not earned it,” Strickland said. “He doesn’t fu*king deserve it. Getting a decision with a welterweight off the couch is not fu*king earning it.”

Clearly, Strickland isn’t holding anything back while voicing his opinion of Chimaev. The fighter just talked his heart out on UFC Fight Pass. Now, his word has gone viral and fans all over the internet have things to say. Will they view his ideas in a kind light? Let’s find out.

Fans react to Strickland’s opinions of Chimaev

‘Borz’ is a fan favorite, whether you like it or not. So when Strickland pointed fingers at one of the most exciting fighters in the UFC, fans had to budge in. Here are some of the best reactions from Instagram.

Some fans agree with the champ and suggested an alternate fight instead:

“Hes right book DDP vs Strickland”

“Hes not wrong. Dricus next”

While some fans wanted Dricus Du Plessis next, others didn’t think Strickland could take on Chimaev:

“Sean knows what will happen”

“In other words he’s scared”

On the other hand, some fans didn’t think Strickland deserved his title shot either:

“Says the guy that didn’t deserve his title shot. “

“Pretty sure he wasn’t deserving of his title shot either but he got it…”

Clearly, fans of both fighters are at odds with each other. In fact, even Du Plessis agreed that he deserved it more than Chimaev and he posted an IG story regarding the same. However, a fight between the two would most definitely be an exciting event to witness. Chimaev’s aggressive style was on a full display against Usman, who had to thwart a number of early takedown attempts from round one. Will Strickland last for as long against ‘Borz’ in a cage? Fans can only wonder.
