The UFC middleweight division is getting noisy, with several fighters looking for the chance to strip Sean Strickland of the middleweight title. The UFC 294 bout between Khamzat Chimaev and Kamaru Usman was expected to determine the next frontrunner for the middleweight title. However, despite Chimaev’s victory, uncertainty looms because he broke his hand during the fight. This injury may sideline him for several months.

The middleweight division has seen its share of formidable fighters, but it’s been relatively quiet since Sean Strickland’s victory over Israel Adesanya. Adesanya taking a well-deserved break following his loss, and Alex Pereira’s move up to the light heavyweight division has left the division in a bit of a lull. Adding to the mix, the promising newcomer Khamzat Chimaev has had a setback with a hand injury. So, who should step up next in the division? It seems like the logical choice would be Dricus Du Plessis.

With all of the fighters either injured or out of the race, Dricus Du Plessis has fired shots at Dana White for neglecting him and giving Chimaev a chance despite knowing the fact that both of them are suffering from injuries and Du Plessis is in a much better condition than Chimaev due to the face that he has recovered.

He took to his Instagram handle to share multiple stories surrounding the injustice happening to him. In one of the stories, he reshared ‘Hack Check Podcast’s story, where the caption read “I wonder if @danawhite forces @khamzat_chimaev to fight or forfeit with 7 weeks like they did with @dricusduplessis”

Dricus Du Plessis was supposed to face off against Israel Adesanya to headline the UFC 293 event last month. The buildup for the match was insane with the ‘original African’ slander raging on. However, Du Plessis sustained an unfortunate injury in his foot, which forced him to withdraw from the match. Dana White, the CEO of the UFC, was not pleased with this move by the South African star. Now, he might lose his opportunity to Chimaev, who didn’t fight an actual middleweight for the opportunity.

As we all know, Sean Strickland stepped up to fill the shortcomings and went on to defeat the champion Adesanya to claim the middleweight title. Adesanya in the aftermath of the fight took a break from fighting and is temporarily out of the race. Earlier this month, Dana White announced that the winner of the Kamaru Usman vs. Khamzat Chimaev match would secure a title shot against Strickland. However, Chimaev’s injury from that fight again casts doubt on the match’s certainty. However, it leaves the divisional newcomer and loser of the UFC 294 co-main majority division available.

Kamaru Usman showcased exceptional performance in his bout against Khamzat Chimaev despite taking the fight on such short notice of 9 days. However, Chimaev’s experience in the middleweight division etched his victory. In a post-fight conference, Usman has expressed his willingness to stay in the middleweight division and has called out Dricus Du Plessis for a fight. In the statement, he said, “I just came off the couch in 9 days and fought a young, hungry bull like that, you know he’s gonna fight for the title, I’ll take Du Plessis, co-main UFC 300, why not? ”

Even Dana White agreed with his decision. White said ” That’s up to him, that guy has done it all,.. if you look at his career, look what he’s done. He’s the greatest welterweight of all-time, doesn’t get enough credit, stepped up, took this fight at 85, whatever he wants to do, I’m good with it.”
