Did Dricus Du Plessis just expose Israel Adesanya's vulnerability, or was it all mind games?

UFC 305 pre-fight press conference witnessed some of the fiercest verbal battles fought between Israel Adesanya and Dricus Du Plessis as they continued their rivalry. However, some of the middleweight champion’s words struck a nerve that made ‘The Last Stylebender’ lash out and shed some tears. A majority of the fighting community sympathized with the former 2-time middleweight champion. But the same could not be said for ‘Stillknocks’.

During the conference, Du Plessis asked Adesanya if he would take his servants to Nigeria if he ever visited his birthplace. But that didn’t sit well with the former champ. ‘Stylebender’ lashed out at ‘Stillknocks’ for attacking his childhood story. Needless to say, the Nigerian-born mixed martial artist’s story to the top of his division is an inspiration to many.

He became a subject of internet trolling when talks about his domestic servants helping him take baths went viral on the internet. However, when DDP touched this subject, he received quite some furious lashings from the former champ. Adesanya sternly asked Du Plessis to stay shut on such subjects and broke down in tears.

Du Plessis, however, went forth to make an unusual request. Right after the events of the press conference for UFC 305, the South African mixed martial artist took to X and commented about Adesanya’s crying. He wrote, “Come on guys stop crying at the press conferences it’s not that serious.”

The rivalry between the two has been rising ever since the South African fighter struck the match on the ‘real African’ debate. With the fire burning high, Adesanya, at the previous press conference, announced that he would be the one to finish it all.

‘Izzy’ promised to finish what ‘Stillknocks’ started

Earlier in July, Adesanya and Du Plessis had a verbal battle at the press conference for their fight. The talks about the ‘Stillknocks’ attacking the heritage of Adesanya, Kamaru Usman, and Francis Ngannou weren’t out of discussion. Du Plessis’ words had enraged the former champion and he simply wasn’t letting it slide.

Adesanya said, “He tried to discredit the three kings and say that he is the real true African Champion, and I was like, ‘It’s a weird mindset, bro, like, he came into the UFC, I knew who he was a little bit. But I didn’t go over the f*** this fake dude coming in.’ I just, so cool, he’s not African in the UFC. But then him discrediting me, Francis Ngannou, Kamaru Usman, that took me off a little bit. So, that’s what started this. But again, I’ll finish it.”
