“Dricus Didn’t Have to Fight Whittaker”- Israel Adesanya and Dan Hooker Claim Dricus Du Plessis “F*cked Up” for Fighting Robert Whittaker

Dricus du Plessis is all set to fight Robert Whittaker. The bout between the two is scheduled for UFC 290 on July 8, 2023, at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The winner of the fight will get a title shot against the UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya. Hence, the excitement of the fight fans is way too high. There is no doubt that Whittaker is going to be a tough opponent for du Plessis. That’s when the major question arises: did ‘Stillknocks’ have a better choice? According to Israel Adesanya and Dan Hooker, he had a great choice in front of him. However, ‘Stillknocks’ chose to take the most risky path.

According to Adesanya and Hooker, the South African fighter should have simply taken the name Sean Strickland. If that were the case, considering his fighting skills, Dricus could have easily won against Strickland and reached the title shot. However, he chose to fight one of the strongest fighters in the middleweight division. ‘The Reaper’ has already defeated the major fighters of the middleweight division except ‘Stylebender.’

The UFC middleweight champion and Dan Hooker were talking in a video uploaded on Adesanya’s YouTube channel. During the conversation, Hooker said, “Dricus didn’t have to fight Whittaker to get the title shot I said if I was, I would have said ‘nah I’m gonna fight Strickland and then I’m gonna get a title shot of beating Sean Strickland and then think he got asked about it and was like well if I didn’t think that I could be the best. If I didn’t think could beat rob.” 

He further added, “I was like that’s not the point I was trying to make. This is the sport of like risk versus reward and it’s you’re getting the same reward which is like a title shot but the risk is a lot higher with Whittaker.” After listening to Hooker, Adesanya totally agreed with him. ‘Stylebender’ said, “If it be Strickland, he got a title shot.” Latter ‘The Hangman’ added, “Dricus didn’t f*ck up, His management f*cked up.” Hooker and Adesanya both feel that du Plessis made a huge blunder by choosing Whittaker as his next opponent.

However, there is no doubt that the bout between ‘The Repear’ and ‘Stillknocks’ is going to be highly exciting. If Whittaker wins the bout, the fans will get to see the former UFC middleweight champion against the middleweight champion for the third time. It would be a great opportunity for ‘The Repear’ to win his belt back from Adesanya. On the other hand, if du Plessis gets to fight Adesanya, it would be an interesting spectacle for the fans, as the two are already engaged in a verbal war.
