Many in the combat sports world have used cycling to improve their cardiac capacity. Conor McGregor, arguably the UFC’s biggest star, is one of them. The Irishman had used cycling to pump up his cardio while he needed to prepare for a 12-round boxing bout against Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather. The bodybuilding legend, Arnold Schwarzenegger, also chose the bicycle as the equipment to maintain his cardiac levels.

However, another noted face of the UFC, Joe Rogan, has made it clear that he wouldn’t necessarily choose to cycle within his training routine.
Conor McGregor has gone cycling multiple times to prepare for fights
McGregor has often opted for cycling as his choice of cardio training. Notably, ‘The Notorious’ had chosen to go cycling with his buddies as his preparation for the Floyd Mayweather fight in 2017. He also stated, “For endurance, it’s good because you’re not pounding the roads.”

‘Mystic Mac’ had also previously chosen to cycle to build up his cardio prior to the Nate Diaz fight in 2016.
The former UFC champion had chosen the former Irish Road Race Champion, Julian Dalby, as his cycling partner to pedal across the desert in Las Vegas in order to improve McGregor’s cardio.
Arnold Schwarzenegger also trusts cycling after being unable to squat
Hollywood star and renowned bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger also revealed in 2018 that he wants to “cycle all over the world.”
At the age of 71, ‘The Terminator’ said, “Squatting and all this kind of heavy leg exercises, I can’t do anymore. My knees are shot.”
He added, “I have to protect my knees because I want to go skiing. I do mostly cycling, so that’s why I want to cycle all over the world.”
