Michael Chandler and Conor McGregor’s fight has been marinating for a long time now. Dana White has announced the fight for UFC 303 and confirmed it as the opening of the night. Both the fighters had been waiting for it for quite some time however several anomalies stopped their match from coming to fruition. Meanwhile, there was also another approach by McGregor’s company that portrayed Chandler as not the only opponent he might have had.
True Geordie has some complaints because he wanted it to be a big deal. After all, Conor McGregor is coming back after almost 3 years. His last fight was with Dustin Poirier where he got an injured shin, had to do surgery, got a titanium rod inside his leg and now he is back. So according to Eordi, this should have been a big deal but he was not happy.

While talking about the fight he said, “The difference alright it’s stock! That reflects completely on the way that Dana views Conor McGregor. Then they were trying to sell UFC their Conor star was the guy they needed to raise the value of the company.” He was not happy at how White just announced the mega fight like a normal bout just after the UFC 300 was over. White also said that it would be 5 rounds of 170 lbs.

Geordi further stated, “For him and the Fretita brothers who were selling it to get paid. They don’t want Conor McGregor generating a whole load of buzz and inflating his value when he’s got two fights left on the deal. If anything, make this as little of a deal as possible. Yes, Conor’s always gonna be a big deal but they are not gonna give him special treatment despite him deserving that.”
According to him, he does not even like ‘The Notorious’ but even then, he expected a mega announcement. He also said that McGregor has brought a lot of value to the company and for them to announce the fight like any other random fight is like, “a slap in the face.” His logic was that because McGregor only had two fights left and he was on hiatus for almost 3 years, White did not want to give him that leverage. Apparently, not only did McGregor have to announce to the media to get this fight, but he also did not want five rounds.

Chael Sonnen says Conor was against 5 rounds with Chandler ‘Good Guy/Bad Guy’ Chael Sonnen and Daniel Cormier discussed the announcement of Conor McGregor’s return and Chandler being the opponent. ‘The American Gangster’ had a conversation with Michael Chandler to confirm whether this fight against the double champion was a domain event. At that time Chandler was not sure what now after Dana White’s announcement, it is clear that it is the main event.
There is also news that McGregor did not want 5 rounds. “Conor wanted three [rounds]. Conor lobbied to try to get three, and I said, ‘So look, that could be because he knows this isn’t the main event,” Sonnen added. There are also talks of a new weight class in which this fight might happen which is the 165 pound. All in all, who do you think is going to win this mega-fight?
