Alex Pereira already has the option to face Jon Jones, a fight the reigning heavyweight champion seems to prefer over a matchup with interim king Tom Aspinall. However, Pereira has also hinted at another “super fight,” expressing interest in a showdown with 185lbs kingpin Dricus Du Plessis following the South African’s UFC 312 victory over Sean Strickland. Yet, not everyone is on board with this potential matchup. In fact, one of Pereira’s fellow Brazilian stars has voiced concerns about the middleweight champion stepping into the Octagon against ‘Poatan’.

Everybody is looking to become double champions in the UFC, so it is only natural for Dricus Du Plessis to turn his attention to Pereira and fight him for the light heavyweight title. However, #6 ranked 185fer Caio Borralho, who’s been unstoppable since joining the UFC, wants a piece of the South African star first. For that, he recently expressed his desire to hit up Pereira and let him know about his wish to fight for the crown.

“I was just about to say to Alex. ‘Don’t look at my prey [Dricus]’, you know [chuckles]. ‘This is my prey. You take a look at your division and do your stuff. You’re one of the GOATs, one of the best ever… So, just you know, let me have my prey for me,'” Caio Borralho revealed to ‘Submission Radio’. Well, there’s no animosity between Borralho and Pereira, nor does ‘The Natural’ have any issues with his fellow countryman getting a dig at Du Plessis first.

For the uninitiated, Borralho is on a 9-fight winning streak at the moment (including his DWCS fights), so he’d surely get his title shot in the near future. But despite claiming he doesn’t want to wait to fight the South African, he still shared his prediction of the hypothetical fight between ‘Stillknocks’ and Alex Pereira. Let’s see what the Brazilian had to say!

Caio Borralho predicts the worst for Dricus du Plessis vs. Alex Pereira

Alex Pereira has more than proved how deadly his striking it and showing why he was one of the best kickboxers in the world during his time in Glory FC. It is safe to say that lethal knockouts have become a norm for the light heavyweight champion. As such, Caio Borralho claims that Dricus Du Plessis might have a goofy and awkward style that does the trick for him every time.

However, he doesn’t see the middleweight champion getting the better of the light heavyweight champion because, for him, Du Plessis doesn’t stand a chance against Pereira. “Poatan would kill him. ‘Poatan’ is really effective on distance control and reach. Dricus makes a lot of mistakes, and against ‘Poatan,’ you cannot commit mistakes. You make a mistake [and] you are dead. I truly think Dricus would be knocked out,” Caio Borralho told Laerte Viana.

Well, do you, as fans, agree with this assessment of the hypothetical superfight? Alex Pereira has his fourth title defense coming up next month at UFC 313. And the only thing that concerns him right now is beating Magomed Ankalaev and shutting up his critics. Nevertheless, let us know your thoughts on Caio Borralho’s friendly request to ‘Poatan’ in the comments down below!
