UFC 310 is in the history books as Dana White and Co. wrapped up yet another successful year for the promotion. However, there was a huge controversy on the main card as Ciryl Gane defeated Alexander Volkov, with many claiming that the judges should have awarded the win to the Russian star. In addition to that, ‘Bon Gamin’ also suffered broken toes, and after he shared the update on the extent of his injury, fans shared their reactions to his predicament.
Gane was definitely not happy with the way he performed against Volkov and decided to get out of the cage following the decision to win after the fight. When he was brought back, he revealed that he had broken his toes in the very first round of the fight. After just a day of the PPV, ‘Bon Gamin’ shared an X-ray image of his toes on his Instagram stories, where his metatarsal bones seemed to have been fractured.

Metatarsal fractures are pretty tricky because the recovery period could take from six weeks to well over several months. It will depend on the doctors regarding when they would suggest Gane return to training, but judging by the X-ray picture he shared on social media, the Frenchman may not be able to return to action until we are done with the first half of 2025.
How do you think the fans reacted to Ciryl Gane’s sad news? Well, it appears that they are still triggered by the outcome of his fight against Alexander Volkov, and they made it apparent in their reactions.
Fans aren’t concerned about Ciryl Gane’s injury crisis
There have been several instances of fighters breaking their toes during a fight. One such incident happened with the heavyweight champion Jon Jones as well, way back in 2013. However, he didn’t break more than one toe, which can’t be said for Ciryl Gane, who has broken three of them, and it’s not a very common thing that fans get to witness every time. The speculative UFC fandom quickly jumped on the Frenchman’s case, with one fan claiming, “Damn he broke 3,” as he was surprised to see the state of the heavyweight star.

Some fans have their theories as to what led to Ciryl Gane breaking three of his toes, and some believe that it’s because of his fighting style. “He relies heavily on his movement for his fight style,” an Instagram user stated in that regard. On the other hand, some people seemed like they were finding it hard to digest the fact that Gane defeated Volkov, and a couple of fans said, “Don’t Care Overturn the Decision,” and, “Doesn’t matter he lost to Volkov,” highlighting their issues with UFC judges.
However, there were still some supporters who stood up for the Frenchman, claiming that his poor performance could be attributed to his toe injury. “Seeing it — definitely contributed to performance. Volkov performed well.” Some fans believe that, in MMA, “fighters have weak toes ngl,” but that isn’t necessarily true because some UFC fighters are built like machines, and Michael Chandler is an excellent example of that fact.

Meanwhile, one UFC fan claimed that trying to land kicks on Alexander Volkov may not have been a wise decision for Gane because of the Russian star’s physical build. “Leg kicking a big dude like Volkov whose legs look like tree trunks can break your bones. In between, small bone fractures suck especially for an MMA athlete.”
Now, Ciryl Gane hasn’t opened up about his return timeline, but it looks like it could take a while. Nevertheless, what do you have to say about ‘Bon Gamin’s toe injury? Let us know in the comments down below.
