Bryce Mitchell set the stage for himself before fighting Jean Silva and this stage was not filled with roses thrown from the audience. It was a chaotic mess with jibes and hate thrown from fans and veterans alike. But why? Well, the featherweight star known for his ‘flat earth’ beliefs and homophobic comments ignited a fire with a new addition to this bizarre list.
Even Dana White was pretty shaken about the same. Nevertheless, the realization hit him soon about his remarks and he was quick to apologize but the damage was done. With accusations of being a Nazi floating around, Mitchell prepared himself for his next fight against Jean Silva at UFC 314. With the fan’s sentiments towards him before the fight that has already become bitter, will he be able to regain their love and defeat Jean Silva? A certain UFC veteran does not know for sure but he gave Mitchell the benefit of the doubt.
Former UFC middleweight champ Michael Bisping recently addressed the upcoming UFC 314 fight ‘The Count’ decided to double down on the matchup and praised Mitchell’s fight arsenal. No matter what his personal views might be, we can’t deny that the 17-3-0 featherweight is a good fighter. Bisping said, “Talking about Bryce Mitchell might get you demonetized these days. However, this is an interesting fight. Jean Silva’s wound him up to fu— right? Bryce is pissed off. Now Bryce is a very capable fighter, don’t be fooled by all this stuff with the flat earth and yes the bull— that he spoke about recently ok? Not even going into that.”

He then proceeded to explain Mitchell’s fight ammo and said, “Look at what he did to Kron Gracie. Got him in the guard, slammed him down, and elbow knocked him out cold. Yes, he had two losses recently. One of them Josh Emmett, knocked out cold and took a year away from the sport before he got the legitimate win over Dan Ige. And before that, choked out by Ilia Topuria. Before that, the man was in an absolute roll. “

‘Thug Nasty’ was on a leap with wins before losing to Ilia Topuria so he is pretty dangerous especially when it comes to submissions. On the other hand, ‘Lord’ has 4 wins in UFC as of now and has not lost a single fight in the promotion. He has 12 wins by TKO in his MMA career of 15-2-0. So Mitchell will have a full plate defending the takedowns from Silva.
However, before the in-cage fight could even start, it looked like the atmosphere outside the cage was already heating up between the duo. This was especially after what Mitchell said about Hitler.

Mitchell added another controversial opinion to his already growing list by saying that Hitler was a ‘good guy’. He specifically said on the ArkanSanity Podcast, “I honestly think that Hitler was a good guy based on my research, not my public education indoctrination. I do think before Hitler got on meth, he was a guy to go fishing with.” Hold on because this was not the end.

You can probably guess what happened after that. The Anti-Defamation League’s chief executive Jonathan Greenblatt reprimanded Mitchell for the array of antisemitic, homophobic, and transphobic comments. Fans and veterans in MMA were outraged. However, Mitchell apologized but it was too late.
So during the pre-fight presser for UFC 314, Mitchell saw the hate in real time. He heard ‘boos’ from fans and to make matters worse, he said, “And Jesus said, ‘Remember, if the world hates you, they hated me first. Is the servant greater than the master?’” The Brazilian featherweight began to interrupt as soon as Mitchell began to speak. He started shouting “F— Bryce Mitchell!” and made the fans join in.

Silva dug deeper into the past and took a jibe at Mitchell for thinking that the earth is flat. He brought a globe to the event to mock his opponent as well making a spectacle of him. Nevertheless, Mitchell remained stoic. But when Silva started taking jibes, he said, “You’re barking up the wrong tree mother—!”
