After becoming the third fighter to clinch world titles in two of the heaviest divisions in the UFC and sending the heavyweight GOAT Stipe Miocic into the realm of retirement, Jon Jones has truly done it all. However, the win wasn’t the only thing that made that night special for Jones. US President-elect Donald Trump was there in attendance at UFC 309 as he made his first UFC appearance after winning the 2024 Presidential Elections.

Following his victory, the heavyweight champion turned to the 78-year-old and performed Trump’s iconic YMCA dance, which won the crowd over and even put a smile on the President-elect’s face. Furthermore, they even exchanged words after the fight, which Jones claims to have made his first heavyweight title defense a memorable one because of how valued Trump is by Dana White and the whole UFC.

“Something’s different about my last fight, bro. It’s hard to pin but like, just the level of importance that the UFC is at, you know,” Jones stated during a conversation on the YouTube channel, ‘Alex G Was Here’. “To have Donald Trump be at the fight; it was real big, man.”

Not only in that YouTube interview but Jon Jones has also talked about the opportunity of getting to fight in front of Donald Trump during the UFC 309 post-fight presser. “Fighting in front of my president? Man, if that was my last fight ever, I’m cool with that. That was the way to do it,” said Jones. But why does the UFC value Trump so much? Well, Dana White made that pretty clear following the 78-year-old’s election success.

Dana White hailed Donald Trump for his ‘never-give-up’ attitude

The rise of UFC to the mainstream has been documented pretty well, and it’s safe to say that it wasn’t an easy journey at all. Having been deemed as ‘human c–k fighting’, the promotion fought through bans and sanctions to become the MMA powerhouse it is today, especially because of Dana White and Co’s resilient attitude. The CEO sees a similar attitude in Donald Trump, who went through a lot on his journey to getting re-elected.

“Nobody deserves this more than him and nobody deserves this more than his family. This is what happens when the machine comes after you. He keeps going forward, he does not quit,” White stated during Donald Trump’s victory speech. “He is the most resilient man I have met all my life. His family are incredible people. This is karma, ladies and gentlemen. They deserve it as a family.”

The UFC head honcho has been pretty vocal about his support for Trump. This is because the business mogul had the UFC’s back during the infamous Dark Ages. There’s no doubt that the President-elect be attending many more UFC events in the future. Meanwhile, what do you have to say about the UFC’s relationship with Trump?
