“I love people that like me,” Donald Trump vehemently declares. And Jorge Masvidal sure does love the former POTUS. The former UFC fighter is an ardent fan of the American politician and has been vocal about it. Trump represents freedom to him. ‘Gamebred’ even went to the extent of calling him “the greatest president in the history of the world”. But is the love between the two mutual?

Notably, the 77-year-old politician has made his way to the front rows at multiple UFC events. The sight of him walking along with UFC President Dana White and enjoying the action up close dates way back. While fans might not know, the media mogul offered his hotels to the UFC to conduct events when everyone was reluctant. He used to sit in the front row, and the tradition continues to this day. One of his most recent appearances came at UFC 287, when his favorite fighter, Masvidal, squared off against Gilbert Burns. The American fighter dropped the fight and subsequently announced his announcement. However, it appears the memories of the night evade Trump.

“He [Jorge Masvidal] likes me,” the Republican continued when he sat down with UFC personnel at UFC Unfiltered. He recalled the Miami-born fighter’s fastest KO against Ben Askren, which defined his career. Further, the American businessperson spoke highly of him and remembered his efforts during the presidential campaign.

He said, “Jorge [Masvidal] is a great guy, and he was campaigning for me. Somehow I’m making a speech in this thousands of people and I look and I say, ‘I think that guy is a fighter’. Then I saw it was Jorge, and he had done some good stuff.”

“I don’t know if he’s retired or not retired. But he had a hell of a career when you think of it,” Trump added later. While Trump was in attendance during the event, he forgot a memorable moment in Masvidal’s career, his retirement. When the hosts pointed out the aftermath of the event, he was quick to recall his recollections of the night.

“I think he might have retired,” he then stated. Following this, he attributed his success in Florida to Masvidal.

Trump loves “tough cookie” Masvidal

Trump announced, “He was a big fan of mine politically, and I’ll tell you, it had a difference. I did phenomenally well in Miami and in all of Florida with the Hispanic population. I credit a lot of that to Jorge, so we love Jorge. He’s a tough cookie.”

After hanging up his gloves, Masvidal is currently focused on his Gamebred Fighting Championship. On the other hand, Trump’s recent appearance at UFC 290 grabbed headlines.
