Belal Muhammad and Leon Edwards have had a bit of a past in the promotion. The pair previously met at UFC Fight Night in 2021 but the match ended up as a no contest after Edwards accidentally poked him in the eyes. Since then, a lot has changed for both fighters. While Muhammad is yet to win a title, ‘Rocky’ currently sits at the top spot. However, Muhammad doesn’t feel that Edwards has improved in all these years. According to him, his last fight at UFC 296 was awful and his opponent was even worse. The 35-year-old said, “And the Colby fight I don’t really take nothing from because Colby s..ks. And that fight was awful to watch. Awful to be there. Like I said, Donald Trump was there with shaking his head. Dana White was over there, shaking his head. And you had that even in the build up right?”

Edwards successfully defended his title against ‘Chaos’ at UFC 296 and dominated the entire fight. However, his performance didn’t quite impress Muhammad. He further pointed out how they built up to the fight was not at all impressive and added, “That was the easiest fight to build up for Leon because Colby just talks. So all you got to do is talk back a little bit and he did not interviews barely talked, barely built it up. It was terrible, and the fight was terrible. Even after he was disrespected. So it was all trash, so I don’t really take nothing from that.”

Just like most title fights, the welterweight title fight has also drawn considerable attention from many MMA experts. One such expert is the former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. Usman lost the title to ‘Rocky’ at UFC 278 and since then waiting to get the title. He recently took his ‘Pound 4 Pound’ podcast and picked his favorite before the UFC 304 fight.

Despite getting beaten by Edwards twice, ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ had no confusion in picking Edwards as the favorite in his latest episode of ‘Pound 4 Pound podcast.

The former champion said, “This is a very intriguing fight. But, Leon just being the champion, and being confident in being the champion, I think he’s gonna be sharp…if he trains properly, I think he will be victorious.” Usman also pointed out that Muhammad will struggle in the fight as he does not have high-level wrestling.
