Howeverm Sean O’Malley disagrees. In a recent interview with Helen Yee, while promoting his upcoming fight against Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 306, O’Malley was asked about the greatest fighter currently. He named Islam Makhachev as his top choice.

When Yee inquired why he didn’t select Jon Jones, O’Malley explained his reasoning. Although he acknowledged Jones’ GOAT status, he hesitated to consider him the best active fighter right now, O’Malley said, “I mean, Jon Jones is up there. It’s just, you know, the picture right now, you go back four or five years, and Jon’s fought once in the last 4-5 years.”
