Kelvin Gastelum’s journey in the UFC began with his appearance on The Ultimate Fighter: Team Jones vs. Team Sonnen. Next, he fought against Rick Story and won via a split decision at UFC 171. Gastelum continued a winning streak, beating the likes of Nicholas Musoke and Jake Ellenberger before losing to Tyron Woodley at UFC 183. Gastelum would later jump to the middleweight division and after numerous amazing performances as a 185’er, the American fighter battled Israel Adesanya for the interim UFC middleweight title at UFC 236. Unfortunately, he lost that fight, and the two next bouts as well.

After finally deciding to return to welterweight, Kelvin Gastelum was scheduled to fight Shavkat Rakhmonov, but the fight fell off due to an injury sustained by the former. However, when he finally returned to 170 pounds, he faced Sean Brady, who’d submit him in the final round to claim victory.
