Chris Curtis is about to take on his next opponent, Marc-André Barriault at UFC 297.  Interestingly enough, his friend and training partner will headline the main event of the same pay-per-view and go against the South African phenom, Dricus Du Plessis.

That’s right, Sean Strickland is very close friends with Curtis and the two have trained and sparred together. In fact, the #14 ranked fighter has been training with ‘Tarzan’ for a long time now. And with him being in the same division, will the two go toe-to-toe one day? Here’s more about Curtis and Strickland’s relationship and training details.

Sean Strickland is the type of person to get into an argument or fistfight with anyone. Of course, his partner, Curtis was not safe from the same. The two have fought in their gym and trained together for a long fight. Curtis has gone head-to-head with Strickland in the past and has looked over him too.

The two go to Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas to train. Under the supervision of coach Eric Nicksick, the fighters have grown a lot. While Strickland is the middleweight champion, Curtis is slowly approaching with his PFL career long behind him. The two are close enough to take digs at one another on the internet.

“Before Sean Strickland tries to twist the story, this is our second actual fist right and BOTH times sean threw the first punch. That being said there is so much happening in this pic. A bodysuit, a headbutt, Nate the great being confused in the back, Iron Will Gibson laughing.” Curtis wrote online this one time they got into a brawl.

But like all the other times, the two got back to training with one another pretty soon. Either way, Curtis and his record of 30-10 does not lie. He’s in the game for the long run, which means at some point, a championship battle awaits. Could it be after UFC 297?
