Did Shi Ming's knockout of Feng Xiaocan redefine the power dynamics in women's UFC?

With her third stint under the promotion, Chinese prospect Feng Xiaocan’s journey came to an end after she remained undefeated in her last two bouts. However, when she faced her countrywoman Shi Ming in the third round of their grueling battle at UFC Macau’s preliminary event, the fight started off evenly in the first two rounds. Unfortunately, things took a bitter turn for Feng Xiaocan when her opponent, Shi Ming, landed a vicious head kick knockout.

This win was no ordinary knockout, as Shi Ming’s head kick left Feng unconscious, sparking concern among fans. Feng was immediately transported to a nearby hospital on a stretcher, leaving fans worried about her condition. However, with the latest update from Sherdog on X, there’s some good news. It claims, “Another update: Xiaocan Feng has no fractures and no injuries to her neck. Doctors said her CT scan ‘looked good based on preliminary viewing.’ She is talking and moving all extremities. #UFCMacau.”

In her preliminary battle, the oddsmakers considered Shi Ming the underdog going into her fight against Feng Xiaocan. However, with this victory, Shi has now earned a UFC contract after extending her winning streak to two under the UFC, which includes her last two bouts, including her appearance on Road to the UFC earlier in August. Despite securing the contract, the 30-year-old Shi Ming did not celebrate her achievement, as she was deeply concerned about Feng’s condition while she was being carried off on a stretcher.
