Bare-knuckle fighting is one of the most gruesome combat sports in the world today. Without gloves to cushion the deadly strikes, bare-knuckle fighting can cause some brutal injuries in no time. Something similar happened at the highly anticipated BKFC 41 event.
The event was one of the biggest in the sport of bare-knuckle fighting. It had big names from the realm of MMA, such as Eddie Alvarez, Chad Mendes, Luke Rockhold, and Mike Perry. The hype of the event was such that the Notorious Conor McGregor was also in the crowd watching the entire PPV. All fights were hard-fought battles, but the main event left one of the fighters with a brutal injury!
Luke Rockhold suffers a vicious tooth injury

Both the fighters gave it their best shot from the first second of the fight. Rockhold managed to land a ferocious punch on Perry, that almost had ‘Platinum’ in trouble. However, Perry was able to get back into the fight with a series of powerful strikes. Perry then went on to dominate most of the fight.

In the second round, Rockhold removed his mouthpiece and said a few words to the referee. The referee immediately put an end to the fight, and fans did not understand why Rockhold decided to quit. However, it was later revealed that Rockhold had suffered a gruesome tooth injury.

This injury reminded fans of Alistair Overeem‘s lip cut at UFC On ESPN 7 in 2019 in a fight against Jairzinho Rozenstruik. In the 5th round of the fight, Rozenstruik landed a KO punch on Overeem that connected on the former UFC fighter’s lip. As a result, Overeem suffered a long and deep cut on his upper lip. To this day, fans remember it as one of the most gruesome injuries of the sport.
Luke Rockhold’s UFC Journey

Rockhold had a 9-year-long journey at UFC, filled with many ups and downs. Rockhold came into UFC after leaving Strikeforce as a Middleweight champion. However, he lost his very first fight to Vitor Belfort in 2013. Rockhold then went on a 5 fight win streak, where he was also able to capture the UFC Middleweight title by defeating Chris Weidman at UFC 194.
The 38-year-old then lost his title in the very next fight against Michael Bisping at UFC 199. He got another chance to win the interim middleweight title at UFC 221 against Yoel Romero but lost the fight by a third-round KO.
