Volkanovski has acknowledged the immense challenge presented by the Dagestani fighter. Makhachev carries a formidable record of 12 consecutive wins, and their last encounter at UFC 284 in February ended in a controversial decision win for Makhachev. Despite showcasing his excellent grappling defense and even clipping Makhachev on the feet, Volkanovski lost the fight on the judges’ scorecards.

During his walk, Volkanovski shows visible frustration at the loss. He repeatedly exclaims, “F**k!” and highlights his disappointment at the controversial result.

Volkanovski maintains that he doesn’t feel the weight of pressure as he heads to Yas Island for the upcoming epic clash. Nevertheless, the battle holds significant consequences. “The Great” affirmed in an interview with Fox Sports Australia, before departing for Abu Dhabi with his team, “This is my rematch for one of the biggest fights, and one with a rivalry. So if I go out there and lose, I might never get that title shot again.”

As Charles Oliveira, Makhachev’s original opponent, had to withdraw from the fight due to an injury sustained in training camp. However, in a surprising social media post, White revealed that the replacement for Costa would be former welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman!
