The sport of MMA is without a doubt one of the most exciting and physically draining sports out there. Not only do the athletes require endurance, but they also need to be tactful in their approach. However, there are times when a fighter is saved by a bell despite being in an uncomfortable position.
According to Rogan, this rule needs to change for the better, and he also has a solution for it. While speaking to Gracie, he said, “The right way to do it is then one round. One fifteen-minute round or one 24-minute round in a championship fight. That’s the right way to do it.”
By introducing one fifteen-minute round, the fighters will be tested, which would result in more knockouts. Agreeing to Rogan, Gracie said, “15-30 seconds, minute break? And then 10 minutes. First round 15. It will be an early night.” The JRE host seemed super excited about the idea and added, “I mean, how many finishes would there be? There would be a lot more finishes, you know.”

One of the major things Joe Rogan wants to do is discontinue the use of cages in fights. This topic was raised by the UFC color commentator while talking to former UFC fighter Royce Gracie. With his forward-thinking ideas and knack for vocalizing them, Rogan proffered an unconventional answer to that problem. He said, “I think the cage helps people too because it helps people stand back up. If you get a guy down in an open room, like a basketball court, there’s nothing to help him get back up.”
He further added that the fights should now take place on a flat mat with a red zone, with no advantage for any fighter. Once they enter the red zone, they will be given a warning to return to a safe place. What comes off as a suggestion has not gone well with most fans. However, one can look to make some changes just to help the sport grow. What do you think about the changes suggested by Joe Rogan? Let us know in the comments.
