Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou’s boxing debut was probably the biggest night of his career. However, despite him overcoming staggering odds, the event was unable to capture the attention of the public. Even with the controversial decision loss and Fury getting knocked down dominating the news, the event has reportedly not been successful when it comes to PPV numbers.
According to veteran pro wrestling & combat sports journalist Dave Meltzer, the PPV numbers for the ‘super fight’ were shockingly low. In an episode of the Observer Radio, Meltzer stated, “Way below an AEW PPV. Possibly 10k for TV orders. I will have the streaming tomorrow. It was nothing close to Canelo or Diaz-Paul buys.”
The details have now emerged that the card did only 67 K PPV buys. This number is staggeringly low considering the fact that Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz earlier reportedly did more than 450,000 buys. And now fans have stated their thoughts on the news online.

Here’s how the community reacted:
Many didn’t care to watch the fight.
I didn’t care to watch tbh
Some mentioned the timing of the card as an issue
That’s what happens when the fights card starts at 2PM
Fans also noted illegal streams as a source for the low PPV numbers
That means record breaking Pirate Stream numbers.. 1.6M???
Others mentioned that the Saudi royal family sponsoring the event does not care about the revenue
The Saudis are not worried about the short term gains on a ppv. This was an investment into Saudi international prestige. The Royal family might be the richest family on the planet. They don’t care about ppv money.
Fans also took shots at Ariel Helwani
Someone tag Ariel and tell him this was chaels point
Others stated that Ngannou wasn’t a draw but will now have more eyes on him than ever
This just shows how big of an upset the fight really was. No one cared to just watch Ngannou lose easily to Fury. Ngannou will now be a draw.
It won’t be like that one he fights again. I never heard of Francis until this fight so I can’t be the only one.
And once again, Ariel Helwani was the target of jabs by the fans.
Lmfao it was so bad that Ariel doesn’t allow people to @ him anymore
The fans’ reactions to the Fury vs. Ngannou PPV numbers reveal a mix of indifference, disappointment, and curiosity. The early start time and doubts about the reported figures played a role in these sentiments. Some fans saw the fight as an upset, potentially changing Ngannou’s draw power in the future. It also introduced Ngannou to those who hadn’t heard of him before. However, UFC CEO Dana White has made some interesting comments regarding the former UFC fighter’s boxing venture!
Dana White claims he didn’t see Ngannou vs. Fury but was impressed anyway
Dana White and Francis Ngannou haven’t been on the best terms since Ngannou’s departure from the promotion. The former heavyweight champion relinquished his title and signed with the PFL due to contract disputes with the UFC. But Dana White has now come out to share his respect for Ngannou’s historic achievement against Tyson Fury. White appeared on the ‘Triggered’ video podcast hosted by Donald Trump Jr. where he talked about Ngannou and his performance.
White stated, “The fact that he went 10 rounds with Tyson Fury is crazy, he just went 10 rounds with Tyson Fury, Conor [McGregor] made it 9 or 10 with Floyd…”
