Dustin Poirier has been pulling no punches when it comes to Michael Chandler. During a recent appearance on Outta Pocket with RGIII, the ‘Diamond’ didn’t hold back when asked about his former opponent. Taking aim at Chandler’s authenticity, Poirier claimed that ‘Iron’ isn’t the kind of fighter who engages in honorable battles—a statement that didn’t sit well with the ex-Bellator champion. Wasting no time, Chandler fired back, making it clear that he wasn’t about to let Poirier’s accusations slide.

‘Diamond’ is considering retirement from the world of MMA as he awaits his final battle in the UFC. Meanwhile, Michael Chandler has been struggling to secure a victory in the promotion since his last win against Tony Ferguson at UFC 274. Both fighters stand at different stages of their career but despite that, it didn’t stop Poirier from chastizing Chandler, “Michael Chandler is a fake motherf—– and he’s a cheater. I could go on for days. he makes me pissed off.”

Back at UFC 281, Dustin Poirier and Michael Chandler shared the Octagon in arguably one of the best fights in UFC history. After putting on a mighty war, ‘Diamond’ submitted ‘Iron’ in the third round to claim the victory by a rear naked choke. Even after the fight concluded, ‘Diamond’ refused to share any moment or acknowledge Chandler due to their animosity.

He said, “I don’t [respond]. I don’t and you know, I don’t lose a wink of sleep thinking about Dustin Poirier and how he thinks about me. Unfortunately, obviously I live rent free in his head and he does lose sleep over me. So, I don’t think about him. When you ask, ‘What do you think about it?’ I don’t. So, yeah, man, it’s no big deal.”

As of now, Poirier has not responded to Chandler’s remarks but the MMA community has something to say because both of them have been going all-out against each other.

Fans stood divided over Michael Chandler and Dustin Poirier back and forth

Starting off, a fan was confused why Dustin Poirier was so pissed off on Michael Chandler, “Why is Dustin so obsessed though … there’s far more hateable dudes in the LW division.” However, a closer look at their fight gives Poirier enough reason for the animosity. One of the most important aspects was the fact that Chandler used nasty techniques, such as fishhooks, to gain an advantage and cheat during the clash.

In his last battle against Charles Oliveira at UFC 309, Michael Chandler threw some nasty blows to the back of the head of the Brazilian in the final round which could have been lethal, however, ‘Do Bronx’ kept his composure and clinched the victory by way of unanimous decision. Looking at this, a fan wrote, “I mean, Dustin is right, just look at Chandler’s last fight and see how many illegal strikes he threw at Oliveira.”

Furthermore, the former Bellator star finally found some support from the fans, “Chandler is right, he is in Dustin’s head rent-free lol.” Moreover, a social media user even emphasized his willingness to witness the rematch, “I’d love to see this fight again even more now lmao.”

“He stuck his fingers in my mouth to lift my neck up for a rear-naked choke. He’s on my back… He sticks his fingers inside my mouth, grips my mouth guard, pulls my head up to try and get his hand under my chin,” said Dustin Poirier in his statement about the cheap tricks employed by Michael Chandler in their clash at UFC 281. Looking at this, a fan wrote, “that fish hook was total BS so DP ain’t wrong, he did also say that whenever Mike fights he tunes in.” Last but not the least, a social media user ascertained that Poirier has achieved more in his life than Chandler. They said, “Chandler is a dirty fighter and Dustin has accomplished more.”
