When is Conor McGregor making his UFC comeback? This has been one of the biggest questions since the Irishman recovered from his leg injury. And of course, it has been over two years since he last stepped inside the Octagon for a fight. Meanwhile, former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman shared his opinion of McGregor, questioning his commitment to get back to the top.

Every MMA fan and enthusiast knows that there is no bigger name than Conor McGregor in the sport. Even though he’s been away from action for a considerable amount of time, people do not stop talking about him coming back to fight again. However, Kamaru Usman had some doubts regarding ‘The Notorious’ and his ability to be the same fighter who collected accolades. Let’s see what he had to say.

During a recent appearance on Patrick Bet-David‘s podcast, Kamaru Usman addressed the rumors surrounding Conor McGregor’s return. The former double champion was scheduled to make a return earlier this year. But his situation with the USADA kept him away from making a comeback. As such, Usman claimed it was up to McGregor and his commitment to step inside the Octagon again. He believes the Irishman could win a fight or two, but he doesn’t see him becoming champion again.

“He might win fights here and there. But I just don’t see him becoming a champion again… What it boils down to is the commitment that it takes [to get back to the top],” said Kamaru Usman. He then mentioned how fighters, when they are up-and-coming, have only one thing in mind, and that is to get to the top-most position in this sport.

“When you’re on the way up, there’s only one direction you’re looking, and that’s just where I want to get to… in order for me to get there, I need that belt.” ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ further stated.

“But when you get there, now different things that you did expect, responsibilities are there… those two-three days were two-three days that when you put in, your mind knows in the back of your head, ‘I put those extra two-three days in. These guys can’t touch me. I’m better than everybody,'” Usman added. He is of the belief that Conor McGregor may not want to commit to the sport as much as he did back when he was getting started. Let’s take a look at that front.

Usman believes ‘The Notorious’ may not be “hungry”

The former welterweight champion continued to speak about being at the top of the game and witnessing a slow growth rate after winning the championships and making a lot of money. When that happens, other fighters start to come closer to the position that Conor McGregor is in right now. Kamaru Usman said, “Now, your progression is not as fast as it was. It’s slowly starting to dim now. So they’re [other fighters] starting to catch up a little bit.”

He believes Conor McGregor needs to develop those ambitions to be able to win titles again. “That decision to plug back in to be able to get back up there that’s very difficult to do when you don’t have those [ambitions]. You’re not hungry,” ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ added.
