On the 25th of July, the Fight Dietician sent forth a video on his Instagram that showed how Leon Edwards is going to manage to lose over 17 lbs in just 5 days. Without a doubt, this is not a plan that a fighter could engage in for a long period of time. After all, the welterweight champ needs to make weight in order to defend his championship title against ‘Remember The Name’. UFC 304 would be the second time when Edwards would face Belal Muhammad. And he needs to be in top form.

The diet plan consisted of 4 meals and 4 snacks. The day began with a chili vegetarian omelet for the first meal, followed by mixed berries and protein shaken in water along with 3g of creatine for snacks. The second meal of the day was a carnivore steak with an avocado. Before taking his third meal of lemon butter chicken thighs, the champ apparently ate coconut PB & chocolate chips for a snack. Before training, a handful of jelly beans did the job of spiking the energy levels. Finally, the fourth meal was a fillet of lemon herb salmon.

This plan was designed in such a way that it dehydrated the welterweight’s body and dropped his weight on the scales. The dietician wrote in the caption, “This strategy, among a few others is what allows elite level fighters to drop over 10% of their body weight in just a matter of days.”

However, there was also a disclaimer about the plan. It was indeed dangerous if practiced incorrectly. Needless to say, this was the reason why the mixed martial artists hired dieticians and nutritionists to help them get in shape. Well, is this the same diet plan that Edwards followed while preparing for his fight against Colby Covington

What diet plan did ‘Rocky’ follow for UFC 296?

As per the information shared by MensXP, ‘Rocky’ began his day with a protein-packed omelet with a side of guacamole and some fruits. With fibers, protein, healthy fats, and natural sugars in check, the champ went for 20g of protein powder in water for a mid-morning snack. The protein intake continued with lean minced turkey with veggies for lunch. But even someone like Edwards was bound to have a sweet tooth. He munched on a chocolate protein pudding for the next snack. Doubtlessly, it was all without any guilt.

Just like Sullivan revealed, Edwards’ pre-workout consisted of 10 jelly beans. After all, these beans are backed with sugars and carbohydrates for a quick boost of energy. Lastly, his dinner involved breaded chicken and dip. And for dessert, he had a cup of mixed berries. This was indeed one of the most balanced meals an MMA athlete indulged in, right?
