Notably, in the second fight on the main card, the UFC legend Frankie Edgar stepped into the Octagon for the 30th and the last time as he faced Chris Gutierrez.

The former bantamweight champion, Frankie Edgar, entered the cage with only 1 win in his last 5 outings. On the other hand, his opponent, Gutierrez, carried the momentum as remained undefeated in his last 7 fights.

What happened in the fight at UFC 281?

The legendary fighter had an illustrious career and displayed the champion’s skills for the last 15 years.

Initially, both the fighters gauged each other. However, ‘El Guapo’ remained calm and threw a spinning elbow and later followed it with a kick.

Using his hip and foot movements, FactoryX Muay Thai representative led the former UFC champion. Following this, Gutierrez also generated a lot of power and dropped the legend with a knee. Thus ending Frankie Edgar’s career with a brutal knockout.

Notably, the 41-year-old fighter in his in-cage interview with the color commentator Joe Rogan said, “This sport’s a b*tch, you know.”

This was not exactly the farewell the fans and other UFC fighters wanted. They resonated the same in their post-fight reactions.

How did the UFC stars react?

The UFC legend and former lightweight champion BJ Penn reacted to his old adversary’s last fight with broken heart emoji. Significantly, ‘The Answer’ won his first UFC title against BJ Penn on UFC 112 in 2010.

The former lightweight champion Charles Oliveira hailed Edgar as forever champ. Thus, he tweeted, “A forever champ @FrankieEdgar, obrigado”

Further, another UFC star, Khamzat Chimaev, called Edgar a ‘legend’ along with a number 1 medal emoji.
