Although some personalities claimed that Burns was already defeated mentally, his loss came as a shock to many. Recently, ESPN MMA took to Facebook and Instagram, and shared a picture of ‘Durinho’ and listed the injuries he sustained at UFC 288. They revealed that he suffered from a sprained neck, torn left deltoid, torn left trapezius muscle, and torn left AC joint. Undeniably, the fighter must have been in tremendous pain during the fight. The fact that he gave it his all despite the injuries won the fans’ hearts.

The fans declared how much they respected the Brazilian for his spirit. They commended him for not throwing in the towel. Here’s what the fans said:

  • Didn’t let the body heal, and fought way too much & too soon.
  • This should be an example not to take back to back fights without full recovery.
  • An absolute warrior, I commend him for taking another fight so quick but it was not a smart decision.
  • And still wouldn’t quit on himself. Incredible

  • Lot of respect for Gilbert. He kept fighting, and that was purely his will to not quit. That might have been too much on his body over that period of time. To be fair, I doubt he went into that fight with Belal with all these injuries. A good portion of that likely came in that fight.
  • I could tell he was really in pain. He’s got the heart of a champion. I hope he gets his belt one day.
  • He pushed his body to the limit 3 fights back to back kudos to him and wishing him a speedy recovery
