Khamzat Chimaev recently called out Dricus du Plessis after the South African’s UFC 297 triumph. He called for a fight against the newly crowned champion at UFC 300. Meanwhile, Chimaev also revealed the details of the conversation he had with the Chief Business Officer of the UFC, Hunter Campbell, regarding a potential UFC 300 title fight.
Khamzat Chimaev is currently nursing his hand injury and recovering from his other health issues. After a successful return to the middleweight division at UFC 294, ‘Borz’ is aiming to come back in April. But to make that happen, he had a chat with one of the promotion’s executives. Khamzat Chimaev has demanded a UFC 300 spot

During an interview with ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, Khamzat Chimaev frankly admitted that he would be surprised to see someone else taking his spot and fighting for the middleweight title next. He is very confident about being the number one contender for the 185-pound championship. Chimaev said, “I would be surprised if somebody [else] fights next, not me. We will see.”
He further revealed that he hadn’t had a conversation with Dana White regarding his next fight. Apparently, Chimaev has no idea about what the UFC CEO has in store for him next. However, he disclosed details about a conversation he had with Hunter Campbell. “I did not talk with Dana [White] and I don’t know what he is thinking… I asked Hunter [Campbell] like, ‘Let me fight at UFC 300.’ We will see what they say,” said Khamzat Chimaev. He is waiting for the green light to fight at UFC 300 and further revealed what went down before he had the conversation with Campbell.
‘Borz’ wanted to be healthy before discussing his next fight
Khamzat Chimaev revealed that the UFC was trying to discuss with him about his next fight some time ago. His health was not in a good state at that point in time, so he wanted to get better before he talked about his UFC 300 plans. Chimaev further stated, “I was sick before, like long time before so… they was asking me that time so I said to my manager, ‘Let me be healthy first and then we talk.'”

So after he recovered from his health predicaments, Khamzat Chimaev told the UFC executives that he would be ready to fight in April. Hence, he wanted to be on the UFC 300 card, fighting for the title. “So I was in the gym, training, it’s just right time so [I said], ‘I will be ready, man. Give the fight at [UFC] 300,'” Chimaev added.
