Glover Teixeira was defending the championship for the first time after winning it from Jan Blachowicz at UFC 267; ‘The Czech Samurai’ was fighting in his first title bout at UFC 275, with just two Octagon appearances under his belt. However, he showed he was ready for a highly intense five-round bout.
The contest saw many twists and turns from the get-go. There were many instances in the battle where Teixeira had the fight won via T/KO or submission. However, Prochazka escaped the finish and showed resistance. He tagged the 42-year-old Brazilian multiple times and had him rocked, but Teixeira showed the heart of a champion.
‘The Brazilian Pit Bull’ gave his all, yet, ‘Denisa’ came out on top in the fifth round and found a submission (rear-naked choke) in the dying seconds.
