Arman Tsarukyan is one of the UFC’s most exciting fighters right now. Currently, he’s preparing to take on none other than Beneil Dariush in a lightweight bout at UFC Fight Night on the 3rd of December. Has the fighter ever trained with some of the greatest lightweights of the division?

Tsarukyan has had his problems with the reigning champion of the division, Islam Makhachev. The two previously fought back in 2019 with Tsarukyan debuting at UFC Fight Night in Russia. While Makhachev came up victorious, Tsarukyan truly showed the world what he was made of. So what did he take from that fight?

Did Arman Tsarukyan train with Khabib Nurmagomedov and team?

The answer is no in short. Even though the fighter has had beef with Makhachev, he still holds a little bit of respect for him. The two may not be on friendly terms, which means there is very little chance of them ever training together. He has never trained with Khabib Nurmagomedov either. Tsarukyan said earlier that Makhachev should be fighting bigger fighters in the division. The issue clearly affected the warrior.

“I don’t think Moises is the kind of opponent Islam should be fighting. Tiago was just moved into the top 15. Makhachev has seven fights in a row, he should at least fight in the top 10. But everyone refuses, they make a circus of the division.” He had said right before Makhachev’s Tiago Moises fight.

Clearly, he wants a shot at the title for himself. He later spoke about how he could try to do it all by himself if only the UFC gave him a shot to go at it. “I want to fight and stay active, I’m ready to accept the bout with anyone who wants to share the octagon with me!”

“I don’t care if you are not in top 15, on winning or losing streak, I will even fight a debutant. Get me back in there! I’m hungry!” Now, he has what he asked for. He is about to fight the 4th ranked fighter in his division- a master of BJJ, Beneil Dariush.

The fighter rejected a proposal from Alexander Volkanovski

That’s right. Alexander Volkanovski is one of the most accomplished fighters in the UFC. While ‘Volk’ is a champion in a whole different division, his power is unmatched. Tsarukyan reported once that ‘The Great’ had contacted him to help train him.

“He [Volkanovski] tried to connect me to his training camp. I refused because there was no point. I understood that while I was not actively training,” he said about the ordeal. He also mentioned how he was on vacation at the time and needed to enjoy it. “I had a vacation planned this year because I was not at home for 8 or 9 months.”

On the flipside, training with someone like ‘Volk’ may have given him some pointers he could use in a potential fight against Makhachev in the future. But clear and present is the challenge that awaits him this weekend- Beneil Dariush.
