“I don’t know if I can fix the sport, but I think I can put on fights that people want to see, and I can make boxing interesting again and build a brand around it.” these were the exact words of Dana White while speaking to Sports Business Journal. White’s love for boxing is not something new and has been trying his hands at the sport for quite some time now. The UFC has started initiatives like Zuffa boxing and sponsored boxers like Callum Walsh. However, nothing concrete has happened apart from these two initiatives. But Teddy Atlas is confident that boxing will change after his inclusion.
The 68-year-old recently sat down for a chat with ‘Submission Radio’ and said, “I say come on in, come on in. We need you.” One of the biggest concerns for Atlas is the way boxing matches have been lined up in the past. In today’s day and age, fans want to see entertaining fights featuring superstars. But what difference will the introduction of White make? Atlas feels White understands the fans better than anyone else and will be able to schedule fights that the fans want to see. Atlas pointed out how the promoters used to line up the fight and said, “But it was becoming because of the promoters with the networks with their sugar daddies.”
Atlas seems super excited with the idea of White wanting to try his hands at boxing. He believes his attitude will help him take over the sport and said, “Yeah, I know it’s the one guy in charge. He’s the dictator. He’s that. Listen, if a dictator ain’t chopping heads off and getting things done sometimes, maybe we could learn a little something.” White is currently enjoying the success of UFC 306 and has impressed many, including Turki Alalshikh. Alalshikh is the man behind some of the biggest fights that are happening in Saudi Arabia at the moment. It seems he now wants to use the expertise of White in helping him line up more big fights, feels the former UFC Champion.

Michael Bisping points out the real equation between Dana White and Turki Alalshikh
What’s your perspective on:
Is Dana White the savior boxing needs, or is Teddy Atlas just stirring the pot?
Have an interesting take?
As Teddy Atlas bluntly pointed out, boxing is losing its edge, and something needs to change to bring the sport back to its former glory. Enter Turki Alalshikh, who has already made waves in Saudi Arabia by orchestrating some high-profile fights and injecting a huge influx of cash into the sport. But what’s missing? The expertise and relentless drive of Dana White. White, fresh off the success of UFC 306, where his team reportedly spent $20 million to deliver a blockbuster event, could be the key to taking Alalshikh’s vision even further. And according to UFC legend Michael Bisping, something big might already be brewing between the two.
‘The Count’ recently took to his YouTube channel to share his thoughts on White’s growing fascination with boxing, hinting that a collaboration with Turki Alalshikh could be the start of something massive. “The UFC and Turki Alalshikh are doing business together,” Bisping said. “Look at this—Dana was promoting the Joshua vs. Dubois fight on Instagram. Why? Because Turki Alalshikh is promoting it. It’s all part of Riyadh Season.” It’s not the first time White has flirted with the idea of stepping into the boxing world, but previously, he didn’t have the resources to go toe-to-toe with the sport’s heavy hitters.

If Dana White’s track record in the UFC is anything to go by, we might be on the verge of witnessing a seismic shift in boxing promotion.
