Over the past year, Jon Jones has consistently stated that he isn’t interested in fighting Tom Aspinall. However, that stance shifted after UFC CEO Dana White outlined the promotion’s plans, which pointed towards a unification showdown against the Englishman. Aspinall is currently on a roll in the division and has been knocking out opponents for fun inside the Octagon.
Although Jones is one of the greatest to ever do it, many feel the interim champion will hold an advantage if the fight ever goes down. However, former UFC champion Michael Bisping doesn’t quite feel the same. Let’s see what ‘The Count’ had to say!

Michael Bisping changes tune on Jon Jones’s chances against Tom Aspinall
The legacy clash between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 was one of the most talked-about fights of the year. From the opening bell, Jones showcased his trademark composure and technical brilliance, using his reach and footwork to control the distance. In the end, Jones secured a decisive victory and is now looking forward to a clash against an opponent who can truly give him a run for his money.
While many believe Aspinall will make easy work of the champion, Michael Bisping feels a bit different about it. ‘The Count’ took to his YouTube channel to share his honest opinion on what exactly he thinks about the generational clash. “I said afterward on the post-fight [UFC 309] show that he would smoke Jon Jones. That Jon Jones couldn’t hold a candle to him or a torch whatever the expression is. And I still think Aspinall wins. I do. But when I saw Jones against Stipe I was like hold on a minute maybe it will be a little bit different. Maybe you know he will give Tom a tougher fight than what I thought. And to be honest that’s not a wild statement.”

Rumors suggest that Jones wants the UFC to pay him $30 million for his next fight against Aspinall. Joe Rogan, a longtime supporter of the champion, believes the promotion might agree to meet his demands. During episode #2249 of the JRE podcast, the 57-year-old expressed his hopes, saying, “The UFC is going to pay it, hopefully. I hope they pay.” While some may criticize the champion for his move, the former 185lbs kingpin believes it’s a masterstroke from Jones’ end.
Michael Bisping praises Jon Jones for his mind games against Tom Aspinall
The rivalry between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall has become one of the most intriguing storylines in the UFC’s heavyweight division. Despite Aspinall’s dominant performances and growing fan support, Jones has been reluctant to entertain the idea of facing him, often downplaying the matchup in interviews. While he did face a lot of criticism from the fans, Aspinall’s fellow countryman feels he did the right thing by not taking up the fight.

Michael Bisping praised Jones for allegedly the monumental clash. He said, “The greatest fighter of all time – talking about Jonny Bones Jones – is more than likely going to fight Tom Aspinall. And more than likely, going to be paid around $30 million. That is what Joe Rogan was talking about on his podcast. And as we know, Jon Jones kind of shied away from fighting Tom Aspinall leading up to the Stipe fight. Which was an absolute stroke of genius in terms of marketing because it drove the demand through the roof – sky-high. Made the fire that everybody wants to see.”
For Jones, defeating Aspinall would silence critics and solidify his dominance in the heavyweight division. As the rivalry continues to build, many believe it’s only a matter of time before the two face off, setting the stage for a blockbuster showdown.
