2021 was not the most fortunate year for MMA fans. In just a matter of 3 months, the UFC witnessed two horrific leg breaks of a similar kind. The first injury took place at UFC 261, where Chris Weidman faced Uriah Hall. In the very first round, Weidman suffered a brutal leg break while performing a low kick on his opponent.
Just 3 PPVs later, Conor McGregor suffered the same fate against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. In the closing moments of the very first round of the fight, McGregor landed badly on his left leg and it immediately snapped. While fans are expecting the Irishman to make a return later this year, Weidman is coming back this weekend at UFC 292. Recently, ‘The All-American’ appeared in an interview with ESPN MMA and opened up about his one-way interaction with Conor McGregor following his injury at UFC 264.

In his interview, Weidman recently revealed that he reached out to McGregor after his leg break. Moreover, the former UFC champion even offered assistance to the Irishman. “I did reach out to him after he broke his leg and said ‘Hey any issues you got, let me know, I could walk you through it’.”
However, he did not receive a response, implying that McGregor was likely in capable medical hands. “But I haven’t heard from him so he… I think he’s good, he’s got good doctors,” Weidman said.
Further, ‘The All-American’ emphasized the uniqueness of each break, noting that his own injury was more severe. According to Weidman, his bones pierced through muscle, damaging his nerves too! “Every break is way different, obviously mine was way worse. I’m the only guy for whom the bones actually went through the muscle. The nerves, the skin all these issues”, he said.
