Joe Rogan thinks Mike Perry blew it against Jake Paul—do you agree with him?

27-year-old Jake Paul once again reminded the world that he is more than just a social media influencer, as he took on Mike Perry at the AT and T arena. On July 20th, ‘The Problem Child’ dropped the BKFC fighter three times during the fight before finally finishing it in the sixth round. This was unexpected, to say the least, given that Perry is undefeated at BKFC. So the looming question of whether Perry could have done something differently has been answered by none other than UFC commentator Joe Rogan.

Mike Perry decided to step in at the last moment after Mike Tyson walked out of his fight in the last moment. Many felt that Perry would prove to be a formidable opponent for ‘The Problem Child.’ However, the 27-year-old proved too much to handle for the unbeaten BKFC fighter. There was a considerable size difference between the pair, which was visible during the weigh-ins, and Paul used it to his advantage. Perry also didn’t have any time to prepare himself for the fight. Thus the UFC color commentator arrived at the conclusion that Perry should have challenged Paul in a different setup where he had the upper hand.

During the JRE MMA show #163, Rogan  Rogan pointed out how a bare-knuckle boxing match would have allowed Perry to hold a bit of advantage in their clash. Perry previously competed at the UFC but since moving to BKFC he has dominated all of his opponents. So, in ideal conditions, he should have forced Paul to fight in the BKFC. He said, “That’s the perfect spot for that dude. He should have told Jake Paul listen we need to fight but let’s do Bare Knuckle. Let’s go. It’s a different thing, man.” Another contributing factor for Perry was the kind of money he was making from the fight.

Mike Perry made the same amount of money as he does under his BKFC contract but also had a few more incentives. Jake Paul promised him that he would be giving him $500,000 if he survived till the seventh round, also, he would get a share if the PPV numbers did well. All such factors could have been why Perry decided to feature in a boxing fight, at least that’s what Rogan believes. He thus added, “But you know you got to take the payday. I mean, what did he make out of that fight. Probably made 10 million bucks”.

While Rogan shared his advice for Perry, he also has a few words of advice for Mike Tyson. The legendary boxer will take on Jake Paul on November 15, and Rogan pointed out the best possible scenario that could happen in the fight.

Joe Rogan hopes Mike Tyson can pull off a knockout against Jake Paul

While some in the combat sports community are excited to witness the upcoming boxing clash between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul, many are left with concern about the 58-year-old boxer. Tyson, 58, is way past his prime and will be taking on an opponent who is thirty years younger than him. However, one cannot neglect the fact that Tyson still has a lot of power and is training intensely for his fight. Rogan, who has always been a fan of the former heavyweight champion, brought up the topic on his #163 JRE MMA show.

Have an interesting take?

He sat down together with the former mixed martial artists Din Thomas, John Rallo, and Matt Serra to discuss the upcoming fight. All of them believed that ‘Iron Mike’ has been enjoying the build-up to the fight and is also in a win-win situation. However, Rogan is hoping that Tyson can rewind the time and deliver a stellar performance when he takes on Jake Paul next. Rogan said, “He’s a monster. Look, at the end of the day, Mike Tyson is a monster. And if he can get that monster to just move in and close the distance and he uncorks a boom boom on Jake Paul, and watch Jake Paul going to queer street, that will be wild.”

The UFC color commentator is also confident that Tyson can pull off a knockout and surprise the world. However, one cannot neglect that the former heavyweight champion is facing a lot of health issues at the moment. Can he return to full fitness and surprise Jake Paul on November 15?
