Conor McGregor’s once-glorious career has hit a potential dead end. The former UFC golden boy is facing the brunt of serious legal issues following a judgment that made him liable for damages in an infamous civil lawsuit for misconduct. Adding to his woes, key sponsors like Proximo Spirits and IO Interactive have cut ties with him, pulling him from their campaigns.

To make matters worse, his highly anticipated UFC return is now in the lurch, leaving McGregor in a difficult position both professionally and personally. With so many problems surrounding him will the former champion ever return to fighting? Well, it seems one of his rivals, Michael Chandler feels he can.

The rivalry between Michael Chandler and Conor McGregor has become one of the most talked-about storylines in MMA. What began as a heated exchange of words has evolved into a highly anticipated matchup, fueled by an undeniable hunger to prove dominance. The duo was slated to take on each other at UFC 303, but the scrap never went down owing to an injury incurred by the Irishman.

Amidst all the chaos, McGregor has found himself a supporter in ‘Iron’. For a long period, Chandler has been trying to get a fight with the Dubliner. And this time he is confident that it will go down. The former Bellator champion took to his X account to silence a user who doubted the Irishman’s intentions.

Chandler first tweeted about his possible three opponents and wrote, “Conor/Max/Jorge” But seeing McGregor’s name, one user asked, “Do you think the Connor fight is still on? He doesn’t seem like he has the fire in him anymore IMO”. On most occasions, Chandler doesn’t support the Dubliner. However, this time around, things were different and he responded with, “I do…”  Both men have everything to gain and lose, making their eventual showdown not just a fight, but an important moment for both their careers.

While the fight has not been announced yet, fans will hope to see them in action soon. Another former UFC fighter who was desperate to witness the fight is Daniel Cormier. ‘DC’ previously was confident that the fight was much closer than expected after the UFC 309 call-out by Michael Chandler. However, he has now changed his stance, considering the problems McGregor is facing outside the Octagon.

UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier, however, thinks the bigger issue might be the long-term consequences these legal battles could bring. The former light heavyweight and heavyweight champion feels that these issues have tarnished McGregor’s reputation and cast a shadow over the sport of MMA as a whole. He suggests that such controversies leave a lasting impression, making them hard for people to overlook.

The UFC commentator took to his YouTube channel to share his honest opinion on the Irishman’s situation. He said, “It’s unfortunate because this is one of the biggest stars that this sport has ever seen. We have never seen anything like Conor McGregor in mixed martial arts,”.

 However, he was quick to point out that such kind of events do have a long-lasting effect and the comeback might just be more tougher. Cormier further added, “For a guy of that stature to come from our sport and be tied to something as bad as this, it really does suck. There are going to be some long-term effects from this.”  McGregor has tried repeatedly to get back in action and his comeback has been plagued due to injuries. But this time the former dual-champion might just be in far more trouble.
