The Louisiana native chose Michael Chandler’s knockout victory over Tony Ferguson at UFC 274 for this category. Poirier explained it was dramatic and left him speechless.

He said, “Knockout of the year so far has to go to Michael Chandler. The front kick to Tony Ferguson. The way he goes down, you know everybody in the room is speechless.”

“I was there when Machida did it to Randy Couture. We all saw Anderson do it to Belfort. When those kinds of front kick knockouts happen, it’s so dramatic. I mean, it’s crazy he gets the award for me,” Poirier concluded.

At UFC 274, ‘Iron’ and ‘El Cucuy’ exchanged strikes for the whole first round and the former also landed a huge takedown. However, in the second round, at the 0:17 second mark, the ex-Bellator champion unleashed a vicious front kick that knocked Ferguson out cold.

With this win, Chandler bounced back to the win column after a two-fight skid. He is now 2-2 in the UFC.
