UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones suffered an unfortunate injury that cost him his UFC 295 spot, to the utter disappointment of fans. But is the disappointment enough to make people want to strip Jones of his title completely? Apparently so. In fact, the talks about him being separated from his title have been so visible that they came to Michael Bisping‘s attention. And he had a few things to say.

Bisping recently sat down for an interview and reviewed the whole Jones situation and it made no sense to him whatsoever. Jones has been called time and time again, the greatest of all time. So why does he have to face such cruel criticism?

Here’s what happened. Jon Jones was grinding as hard as he always does and ended up tearing a pectoral tendon. An injury that can happen to any fighter. After UFC 294’s injuries that canceled not one, but both the main and co-main events, fans should be barely surprised.

The truth is, injuries happen all the time. Sometimes they take a fighter down during training and at other times, right inside the cage. But does this warrant the fighters being stripped of their titles completely? Here’s how Michael Bisping reasoned with the ridiculous idea with logic.

“You do realize that Jon Jones is probably the greatest of all time,” Bisping said. “. . . He’s gone through multiple generations of legends and contenders. He’s defended the belt so many times. Stepped up, became the heavyweight champion. And when people get injured they bring interim belts. People don’t get stripped . . . Why should the rules not apply to the greatest of all time. If anything, they should definitely apply. So anyone that thinks he should be stripped, they’re talking out of their back side.”

Clearly, Bisping has his strong opinions in place about the whole thing. There are great fighters, and then there are those who eat said fighters for breakfast. And Jones is exactly that. Then there’s no reason for him to just lose his title, especially while on the brink of retirement. Either way, the Jones fight has been replaced. So who’s going to fight instead?

The fighters that replaced Miocic and Jones

Now, the fight will be between the two different heavyweights. Tom Aspinall and Sergei Pavlovich. Explosive power, wrestling, and Russian Sambo. A tale that’s often most exciting is coming to the co-main event of UFC 295. Pavlovich was a backup fighter for the Jones match but after ‘Bones’ pulled out, Miocic dropped off the card too.
