Joe Rogan’s passion for fitness and maintaining his health is evident in the 56-year-old podcaster’s incredible physique. From his martial arts training to his promotion of ice baths to being a co-founder of the ‘Onnit’ brand of fitness products and supplements, the UFC color commentator has been a vocal proponent of maintaining peak physical condition despite his age.

But Rogan has also come under fire by the fans of the JRE podcast for the perceived changes in his body over the years, which have been alleged to be a result of excessive use of HGH or human growth hormone. However, according to a recent video by prominent exercise scientist and YouTuber, Joe Rogan may have made the right call regarding when he started his hormone replacement therapy!

Dr. Mike Israetel holds a PhD in Sport Physiology and in his YouTube channel, ‘Renaissance Periodization’, he often provides his analysis and break-downs of various celebrity workout routines, diets supplement usage, etc. During a recent video, he examined Joe Rogan’s fitness protocols and made an interesting observation.

In a clip from the video, Rogan can be heard talking about starting TRT or hormone replacement therapy as he proclaimed, “TRT, HRT, I started doing all of that when I was 40…yeah it makes a big difference”. Dr.Israetel then went on to address the benefits of TRT as he stated, “TRT is awesome if you need it”

TRT, or Testosterone Replacement Therapy, is a way for men to enhance the levels of testosterone artificially, the male hormone primarily responsible for maintaining bone density, muscle strength, and mass, amongst other various other crucial functions.

Dr. Israetel further brought up the fact that “…many people hit what’s called informally ‘andropause’ when their natural testosterone production falls off in their late 30s and early 40s and sometimes mid 40s and so Joe’s timing for his TRT is actually quite good.“

Therefore, according to Dr.Israetel’s analysis, Joe Rogan’s decision to start TRT when he turned 40 appropriately aligns with the age range where many men experience a drop in natural testosterone levels and the therapy can be beneficial to maintaining their health. Nevertheless, in a past episode of the JRE, Rogan had also revealed how he went about finding an expert doctor under whose guidance he could safely begin TRT!

Rogan claims that “jacked doctors” inspired him to start hormone replacement therapy

During the JRE Episode no. 1586 with Tony Hinchcliffe a few years ago, Joe Rogan stated that many people have trouble accepting their body’s downswing of testosterone due to age and end up dismissing the idea of hormone replacement therapy entirely.

But according to the podcast host, he took a different approach when he decided to start taking testosterone supplements as he revealed, “It’s really simple – I want my body to work better, I want it to perform better, so I talked to doctors, and I like to talk to jacked doctors. The doctors that I know, that work in hormone replacement, they’re all like in their 60s, and they look like they’re in their 40s.”

However, he also cautioned those interested in the therapy to complete several medical tests, including bloodwork monitoring and adjustments to nutrition under an expert doctor’s supervision. In conclusion, Joe Rogan’s openness about his health practices may help others to find the same benefits as him in maintaining their physical fitness in the face of the inevitable march of time.
