Despite Fights Falling Apart, Dana White Left Awestruck Over UFC Matchmaker Sweepstakes’ Joe Reeves That Booked Cody Garbrandt’s Next Bout- “He Made a Fight”

In the last 24 hours, a lot has gone down in the UFC. First, it was UFC 294’s main event that fell apart as Charles Oliveira opted out of his title fight against Islam Makhachev. Further, the co-main event of the night, Khamzat Chimaev vs. Paulo Costa, is also likely to suffer the same fate. However, as fights are falling apart on one end, there is a ray of hope for the UFC on the other end.

Recently, UFC President Dana White appeared in a press conference for the Dana White Contender Series. It was the same conference where he announced UFC 294’s fight cancellations. Halfway through the press conference, White announced surprising news about a new fight featuring Cody Garbrandt.

UFC Matchmaker Sweepstakes winner fixed a fight for Cody Garbrandt

Thanks to the UFC’s innovative ‘Matchmaker Sweepstakes,’ one lucky participant got to turn that dream into a reality. Joe Reeves, a young and avid UFC enthusiast, emerged as the winner of this remarkable competition. Next, he got a chance to meet Dana White and discuss future fights for the promotion. In the recent press conference, White heaped praise on the competition winner, commending his knowledge and expertise of the sport.

Further, he also announced that he hired Reeves to work in the UFC. “You want to know how f*cking good Joe is? I just hired Joe. Joe works for us now,” he said. “This f*cking kid is awesome.He knew everybody, you can’t bring up a guy on the roster that he don’t know, he knows everybody on the roster,” he added.

Next, the UFC President revealed how Reeves met UFC star Cody Garbrandt and proposed a fight for him. “He did make a fight today. He met a bunch of fighters in the PI today, and one of them was Cody Garbrandt,” he said. “They were talking and I guess Garbrandt said, ‘Listen, if you’re the matchmaker for a day, I want to fight in December. So he came in and started pitching us on fights for Cody Garbrandt in December, and he made a fight,” he added.

The ‘Matchmaker Sweepstakes’ presented UFC fans with a unique opportunity to step into the shoes of a UFC matchmaker. The grand prize included a star-studded package featuring a flight to Las Vegas and an exclusive meeting with none other than Dana White himself.
