An aptitude for gauging the opponent’s strike range and style, improving skill set to be better than the entire roster are a few things that make a fighter great. However, to become a household name and be remembered outside of the in-ring action, a fighter needs to be able to create moments. And no one does it better than the former UFC Lightweight champion, Conor McGregor.

Conor McGregor is one of the hardest workers and one of the smartest fighters in the division, and his skills are beyond questioning. Apart from that, ‘The Notorious’ has always had a knack for smack-talking to his opponents and getting inside their heads to rattle them up prior to their matches. This is a great strategy that has almost always worked for him. Recently, he tried to reignite an old fire with one of his former opponents, via Twitter.

American comedian Theo Von is outrageously funny. He is a straight-arrow and doesn’t believe in biting his own tongue about anything, for that matter. This is quite similar to UFC’s favorite son, Conor McGregor. Theo Von is a good friend of fellow comedian and UFC commentator Joe Rogan and has appeared in his podcast, multiple times.

A recent video was shared on Twitter wherein the American Comedian was seen, openly admitting to never really having liked ‘French’ people. The comedian seemed unapologetic and his comment was as brazen as ever. To this, former UFC Lightweight fighter Conor McGregor reacted by taking a dig at his old rival and fellow Lightweight competitor, Dustin Poirier.

McGregor has previously referred to Dustin Poirier as “pea head“. Upon being asked to explain his reason for calling Poirier this, McGregor had stated that he found his former rival’s head was shaped like a pea.

Therefore, when Conor McGregor re-tweeted the video of Theo Von being vocal about disliking the French while commenting, “Pea head is of French origin“, UFC and MMA fans didn’t have any trouble figuring out who this cryptic tweet was aimed at.

However, Conor McGregor later deleted the tweet.

McGregor and Poirier – A Long-standing Beef amidst USADA miss

Conor McGregor’s beef with all his opponents is almost as exciting as all his matches. He faced Dustin Poirier thrice. At UFC 178, McGregor defeated Poirier in the Featherweight division. However, the following matches took place in the Lightweight division, with Dustin Poirier winning both the bouts.

McGregor took a long hiatus from the UFC and was looking to make his comeback. He was slated to fight against his old TUF rival, Michael Chandler. However, he missed the USADA test. Although there is an exception that can be made by the UFC in this case, his return seems unlikely this year.
