After many speculations, Conor McGregor finally revealed that he had to withdraw from UFC 303 owing to a toe injury, as his pinky finger had probably broken. The former dual-weight champion has also had dangerous injuries before, including the one that he sustained during his last fight against Dustin Poirier. However, this was the first time in his UFC career that he pulled out from a scheduled fight. And because of the same, there have been a lot of questions about the intensity and genuineness of McGregor’s latest injury. Some think that it might not be true, and one of them is a former middleweight fighter who has insinuated that ‘The Notorious’ might be faking his toe injury.

Speaking on the same, the former MMA fighter questioned the authenticity of McGregor’s words and whether the recent pictures posted by him were genuine. He even claimed that there was no guarantee whether it was his toe, so let’s see what made the insider think so.

Chael Sonnen recently appeared on the ‘Good Guy / Bad Guy’ show and insinuated that ‘The Notorious’ is in rehab for drug abuse and alcohol, but not because of his injury. He said that this was the main reason for his withdrawal from UFC 303. However, the Irishman was not silent and uploaded photos of his injured and broken toe. The former middleweight and lightweight fighter was not fully convinced and questioned whether the pictures were authentic.

Sonnen also pointed out how ‘Mystic Mac’ had been severely injured before and his behavior at that time was very different from how he is behaving right now. The veteran acknowledged the fact that McGregor looked very good and said a lot of correct things however, he is the same guy who broke his leg during a fight and continued his interview with Joe Rogan. Sonnen said, “He from a sitting position when he should have been on a stretcher on the way to an emergency room, calls Joe Rogan over so he can complete his interview while he’s broken in half.”

According to Uncle Chael, he is as “tough as an old leather boot” and this made the former fighter a little surprised after McGregor decided to withdraw. The Irishman has never pulled out of a fight before! His UFC 303 withdrawal is the very first time in his career that he backed out after the fight and even a press conference was announced. Interestingly, Sonnen also pointed out a loophole in McGregor’s statements.

Chael Sonnen gives evidence of toe injury being a lie

The 47-year-old fan-favorite UFC analyst has always been critical of McGregor and this time he insinuated that the fighter was faking an injury. The ‘American Gangster’ said that the Irishman was still recovering from his previous injury. He speculated this on his YouTube channel and said, “So when Conor put out evidence that he was injured, which is a way of him resisting my belief that he is in rehab.”

He did not dismiss the fact that McGregor was injured, but the evidence was not enough to convince him that the injury was severe. He further stated that the pinky toe looked discolored in the picture and the fact that McGregor did not put any evidence that it was his pinky toe before. The 35-year-old was not silent about his injury and he even mentioned how he was getting stem cell therapy to help him recover faster so that he could fight this year. He said, “They’re [the slippers] cozy enough but I can’t get into a shoe yet. So you know… they put stem cell into me for the camp, took it from the back, they put it in my foot. 20 milligrams of stem cells.”

McGregor is still on the verge of recovery and might fight in August or September this year. However, he is facing a lot of criticism for pulling out of the clash last minute. Who do you think Chael Sonnen’s theory is correct? Drop your views in the comments below.
