Colby Covington maintained his ‘bad guy’ image leading up to the fight against Joaquin Buckley at UFC Tampa. Unlike ‘Chaos,’ Buckley was silent the entire fight week while training and making plans to decapitate his opponent from the welterweight spotlight. ‘New Mansa’ was successful with his silent plans and took Covington to the shadow realm while also spewing a lot of blood from his opponent. Covington was bleeding from his eye which led the doctor to intervene and stop the match.
Everyone in the audience saw what happened to the controversial fighter. Meanwhile, ‘Chaos’ had walked out with Hulk Hogan and Chael Sonnen by his side. He had expected a win and even changed his walkout song. He changed it from Kurt Angle’s WWE theme to Hogan’s iconic “Real American” song by Rick Derringer.
Unfortunately, the California native suffered a gash on his right eye after his unsuccessful takedown early into the fight. The cut was an obstruction for him as he kept wiping blood from his eye for better vision. Even after the doctor tried to stop the bleeding on the first attempt, Covington’s fidgeting with the cut opened the wound again giving an advantage to Buckley. Despite his loss, ‘Choas’ believes he was taking things in control.

As per Championship Round’s post on X, during his post-fight video, he said, “I was just getting warmed up in the fight. I think it was tied 1-1 and I was starting to wear on him.” Hogan who walked him down the octagon before his fight shared his sentiment and wrote, “Well fought brother.”

The WWE Hall of Famer was all praises for Colby Covington and complimented him on his tenacity during the fight. But this is not the only time that ‘Chaos’ got some words of motivation from “The Hulkster“.

Hulk Hogan shared some words of wisdom with Covington backstage
At the age of 71, the WWE legend left his comfort to walk out alongside Covington for his fight against Buckley. He also shared some advice with the former interim welterweight champ before he was about to clash with ‘New Mansa’.
The official UFC France X account uploaded a video of the conversation they had while getting ready in the locker room. “Ichiban” gave ‘Chaos’ the right advice for his walkout and also mentioned that he should rip his shirt off before doing the classic ear pose to get the crowd roaring.

He said, “Here’s the deal, I brought one of these [shirts] for you if you wanna cut it off and get it right. It’ll be crazy if you tear that sucker off, bro, but then you gotta do the ear [pose]. I’ll wave the flag, you do the gimmick, man…Wind it up and hit [the pose].“ Guess what? Covington did not disappoint and he did tear his shirt off!
Unfortunately, he could not win the fight, but hey! At least he has veterans like Hogan backing him up. Right now he is riding on a two-fight losing streak and might be going through a tough path. ‘Chaos’ is now 1-3 in his last four fights so his career might be a bit sketchy right now. Nevertheless, what is your take on Hogan’s incessant support for Covington?
