The tumultuous world of Power Slap has been generating more buzz than a hive of angry bees since its inception. The new sports league has faced significant backlash with many questioning the ethics and safety of the sport. Moreover, critics argue that the concept of slapping opponents in a competitive setting is inherently violent and potentially dangerous.
Despite the controversy, Dana White remains a firm believer in Power Slap and has actively supported its promotion. White, renowned for his role in shaping the UFC’s success, has been personally involved in Power Slap’s marketing and visibility. Further, many notable personalities have openly criticized Power Slap, contributing to the ongoing discourse surrounding its place in combat sports. Recently, former UFC fighter Brendan Schaub also had some interesting things to say about Power Slap.

During a recent episode of ‘The Schaub Show’, Brendan Schaub shared his views on Power Slap. He expressed his reservations about the sport, stating that it could hinder the UFC’s progress. Moreover, he suggested that White’s involvement could be more effective as a silent investor rather than actively promoting Power Slap.
“I’m not a fan. I think it moves the ball backwards for the UFC. God bless him and I think there is a lane for it, but I don’t think Dana should be involved in it. I think he should’ve been a silent investor and helped on the outside and not get so involved.”
Further, the former UFC fighter also addressed Dana White’s earlier statement about Power Slap’s soaring TikTok views. The podcaster drew an interesting analogy with a video of an alligator eating a flamingo. According to Schaub, such videos are “cool”, but no one wants to see them for a long time.
“I’ll watch it, but I think where Dana made the mistake is he goes, our Tik Tok numbers are huge. So if I’m on TikTok which I’m not or I go to WorldStarHipHop and I see an alligator eating a flamingo, it’s cool to see for 15 seconds. But I don’t want an hour of alligators eating flamingos. It’s cool to see a guy get slapped and then I move on with my day. But I don’t need the back story and their sad story.”
What did Dana White say about Power Slap’s TikTok numbers?
In the post-fight press conference of UFC Fight Night 218, Dana White showcased his enthusiasm for Power Slap’s social media presence. He highlighted the massive viewership numbers on platforms like TikTok, comparing the Slap League to other famous sports.

“The social media and digital is insane. I don’t know if you guys have looked at that but on TikTok, you know, we averaged 10 million views per post on TikTok. And to put it into perspective, the WWE does 1.5 million, UFC does 770, 000, and the NFL does 545 000. We’re pulling 10 million.”
