Dana White admits to having a lot on his plate

During the press conference, a reporter asked why a busy man like White who had so many ventures, including the UFC, felt the need to launch the Power Slap League. The 53-year-old had a rather hilarious response, “I guess I’m just demented. I don’t know what’s wrong with me. Last thing I need is another job, but here I am.”
However, the UFC head honcho clarified that his involvement will not be as much as in the UFC. He introduced Frank Lamicella, the president of the Power Slap League, who would also be in charge of the day-to-day operations.
The millionaire promoter also addressed the health and safety concerns surrounding the league. “Us getting involved guarantees it’s gonna be much safer,” he said. White added that these events were already happening around the world and would continue to go on.
An overview of the Power Slap League rule set
Dana White said during the press conference that the Power Slap League will have medical and substance testing for the competitors, similar to the UFC. The league will also have men’s and women’s divisions with weight classes consistent with MMA. The detailed rule set is available on the Power Slap website.

Per the rule set, the winner of a coin toss gets to decide whether to deliver or receive the first slap. There will be a 30-second limit for delivering the slap and the same for recovery. In each round, a competitor can deliver a single strike and should receive one as well. Depending on the format, the number of rounds may vary, with the minimum being 3 rounds.
Victory is possible via KO, TKO, or points. The scoring system will be the ’10-point must system’ similar to that of MMA. Judging criteria include the striker’s effectiveness, the defender’s reaction time, and recovery time. Clubbing, illegal wind-up, and delay are some of the striker fouls while flinching, blocking, etc are defender fouls. Fouls can lead to point deductions, loss of strike, re-strike, or disqualification.
