Is Belal Muhammad the most complete martial artist, or is he just blowing smoke?

A few weeks ago on the Joe Rogan Experience, Joe Rogan praised Sean O’Malley as the most well-rounded fighter in the UFC during a conversation with Quinton ‘Rampage” Jackson. However, the landscape might be shifting. Ranked #2 welterweight contender Belal Muhammad is set to return to the Octagon after a year-long hiatus. With a nine-fight winning streak, Muhammad had previously held back from competing due to a lack of worthy opponents.

Now, he’ll face current champion Leon Edwards at UFC 304, scheduled for July 27th in Manchester, England. In a recent YouTube interview on a renowned channel, Muhammad directly challenged Joe Rogan’s claim about Sean O’Malley, labeling himself as the most complete martial artist.

Belal Muhammad, known for his fearsome grappling skills, dominated his last fight in the UFC with a unanimous decision victory over Gilbert Burns. Earlier this year, he even traveled to Dagestan to train with the legendary Khabib Nurmagomedov. Buoyed by his time at Khabib’s camp, Muhammad’s confidence was on full display in his recent appearance on the ‘WEIGHING IN” podcast with UFC veteran coach Big John McCarthy and Josh Thomson.

During the show, McCarthy questioned Muhammad about his comfort level in fighting opponents with different fighting styles in MMA. Muhammad responded confidently, claiming he could handle any opponent’s style. “Honestly, I think that I’m the most complete martial artist in the game right now, especially in my division,” Muhammad declared. “You’ve seen me just strike guys. In my last two fights, I had to shoot one takedown and I outstruck Gilbert Burns and Sean Brady.”

Furthermore, Muhammad highlighted Leon Edwards’s striking, noting Edwards’ reputation as one of the division’s best strikers. Muhammad then pointed out that Edwards threw 60 strikes against Colby Covington after a two-year layoff, compared to 50 strikes in his short-notice fight against Gilbert Burns.

This, according to Muhammad, demonstrates his own evolution and development as a striker in comparison to Leon Edwards in their recent fights. However, it’s important to remember Belal Muhammad’s recent vow to dethrone Edwards implies his own striking has also developed, setting the stage for a fascinating clash.
