Joe Rogan has been one of the most prominent figures in the UFC. The star podcaster and commentator often comments on the way UFC fighters carry themselves. And his assessments hold prominence, considering the fact that he himself is a former kickboxer and one of the few people who have been with the UFC since the very start.

Recently, Rogan commented on the deteriorating condition of Tony Ferguson as a fighter. The 56-year-old believes that, despite having been one of the most dominant forces in the UFC in the past, Ferguson’s age and his body have caught up with him, indicating retirement may be imminent. Tony Ferguson is gearing up to take on Paddy Pimblet at UFC 296. Having endured a six-fight losing streak, this match carries immense significance for him. Combat sports enthusiasts express their sadness at witnessing the decline of one of the greatest fighters in the UFC. On the contrary, Joe Rogan believes that old age has finally caught up with Ferguson, and it won’t be long before we witness his retirement.

In his recent conversation with Shane Gillis of “Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast” Rogan asserted that keeping up with the age is one of the toughest things for fighters. “It’s just when fighters get older, they can’t move as well. There’s a bunch of stuff you don’t see, right? They might have knee issues that you don’t see. They might have back problems that you don’t see. So, they look the same.” said Rogan.

Rogan underscored that Ferguson is among those fighters whose issues have caught up with him, as evident in his recent performances. “There’s apparently a video of Tony Ferguson when he used to enter the Octagon, how he used to move versus now. Oh yeah, you need to find that, crawl thing.”

The duo continued to watch a comparison clip of Ferguson in his prime and now. They analyzed the signature Ferguson knee slide and observed a significant difference. “Quite a big difference, yeah. That’s the knees feeling it now. Now he’s feeling it, right? He’s just moving differently.” voiced Rogan.

Why were Ferguson’s knees in such a bad state? In the discussion, Rogan provides a precise explanation for it.

In the world of MMA, it’s disheartening to witness fighters grappling with knee issues. It’s common knowledge among fans that Kamaru Usman is currently contending with a significant knee problem, contributing to his recent struggles in the Octagon. Similarly, Tony Ferguson has been grappling with a severe knee issue, which has undoubtedly impacted his performance.

Rogan explained that an unforeseen incident just before Ferguson’s bout against Khabib Nurmagomedov played a crucial role in turning the tide against him. “When he was in his prime, that’s when he fell. Just tripped on some wires backstage during an interview and ripped his fuck*ing knee apart. Just completely ripped apart.” said Rogan.
