Conor McGregor is fuming at Justin Gaethje. The Irishman, currently on a long layoff of almost two years, is still attached to the lightweight division. While he tenders to his leg injury during his absence, he keeps a close eye on the upheavals in the 155-pound division. When Gaethje brought the BMF title to the division, ‘The Notorious’ couldn’t help but lash out at the newly crowned champion. Now, it appears his grudge against ‘The Highlight’ grows deep with each passing day.
The Irish fighter is dropping verbal sludges at Gaethje since his splendid victory against Dustin Poirier at UFC 291. He fell back to his tweet-and-delete shenanigans as he announced to “slap around” Gaethje. Thus, the 35-year-old is trying hard to keep a hold of the division and keep himself relevant while the division itself seems to have moved away from him. Taking a similar verbal route, he claims to drop dead the American fighter with one shot.

Conor McGregor tries to remind Justin Gaethje of his place
McGregor recently turned to his Twitter handle as he responded to the latest statements by Gaethje. In the post-event press conference, when asked whether a fight against McGregor was possible, Gaethje had an amusing response. He announced the Dubliner turned down a fight against him six times. Further, he said, “Usually you have to lose to fight [Conor McGregor].”

These comments didn’t sit well with the former UFC champion, as he reminded Gaethje he had only fought two fighters coming off a loss throughout his career.
The guy is about as smart as two planks. He is a one shotter for me. I snipe him dead in one single shot. And easily. https://t.co/fx0C61YN5H

Hence, in a scathing tweet, McGregor questioned his smartness and also retired his earlier stance- to finish Gaethje in one shot. He wrote, “The guy is about as smart as two planks. He is a one shotter for me. I snipe him dead in one single shot. And easily.”

Will Conor McGregor make a return?
This recent affinity with Gaethje has made fans wonder whether McGregor is gunning for a comeback against him, instead of Michael Chandler. However, this is a secondary concern, as his comeback is still wrapped in uncertainties.
A recent rumor floated by ‘Main Event NL’ offers some hope to the fans. It revealed that the UFC is working hard behind the doors to slot in McGregor on the main card in the last PPV of the year.
