There are only a few things in this world that a person might love more than himself. Most would agree that kids hold a similar place before their parents. UFC fighters also aren’t an exception to this fact. Fans have often heard fighters saying that they take all the punishment inside the octagon only in hopes of providing for their families and kids.
Many a time, parents also break their grown-up character in order to protect their kids from adversities. Recently, a ‘Reddit’ video showcased the noted former UFC champ-champ, Daniel Cormier talking about his rather impulsive behavior in two situations when his little one, Daniel Cormier II met with adversities. However, netizens got polarized over the video and flooded the comments section with a volley of opinions.
What exactly did Daniel Cormier do in those two instances?

Cormier described the initial adversity that his son had faced, stating, “When I was figting I was wired a little different. And this little girl kept beating on Daniel. That’s at Bob and Cassandra’s house at the Easter Party. She pushed him down, so I pushed her down”. Looking at the ‘DC’ of today, many fans might find it hard to connect the dots.
He then revealed the second instance, stating, “There was a little boy at the park. When Daniel was like four years old. Right. We were going up and down the slide. And this little dude didn’t wanna wait his turn. He kept pushing everybody”.
Cormier continued describing his response as he said, “So I go up to his father and I was like, ‘Hey, if your kid pushes my kid one more time, I’m gonna push your a** down”.
He ended his story by revealing how the rogue kid’s father grabbed him and left the scene. However, the two hosts of the show weren’t pretty approving of such behavior from ‘DC’.
A number of fans also thought similarly about ‘DC’ unbecoming behavior. But as we often witness in social media posts, there was a section of people who thought otherwise as well.
What exactly did the fans have to say?
As already mentioned, the fans got polarized over this issue. However, most reactions could be broadly classified into three categories. Some were either praising DC’s actions with others criticizing them. But, most of the comments belonged to the third category of hilarious reactions.
A few reactions that praised and justified DC’s actions read:
- If a kid pushes your kids, PUNT THEM. Its only fair.
- I’m with DC “ya you can”
While a few other ones criticizing him were:
- Dc more evil than jon confirmed lol
- DC always been an idiot
Whereas, some of the hilarious reactions read:
- Imagine getting pushed by DC, my 180lbs a** would go flying
- Lmao “ya you can”
- This s*it is hilarious
- Call up Jonny Bones, “this fool out here pushin kids again”
Fans seem to have varying perspectives on Cormier’s knee-jerk reactions as a parent with this remaining a polarising subject for all. It is unclear whether all the aforementioned fan reactions are from parents themselves but it is clear that different people have different approaches to parenting. Cormier himself had a life-changing experience as a parent that has likely shaped how he tends to his kids.
Only hardcore fans of Cormier might know that there is a deeply saddening incident that has probably turned the ‘former UFC champ-champ’ into the overprotective father he is today. Long before signing into the UFC, Cormier had a daughter named Kaedyn with one of his past girlfriends.
But he was severely shaken when Kaedyn passed away in a tragic car accident/ She was just three months of age. In June 2003, Cormier’s girlfriend and Kaedyn suffered a major car accident when another car crashed into them from behind. According to reports, Cormier’s little daughter died from the impact of the crash.
A broken Cormier also told ESPN in a 2019 interview, “So small. I just remember her in the casket and just, not understanding why stuff like that keeps happening. Why does stuff like this keep happening?”
That being said Cormier has been held accountable for his misdemeanors as a father post the incidents with some fans claiming he took his protectiveness too far with the incidents mentioned above. What are your views on Cormier’s past actions? How do you think you would react to the incidents described by Cormier?
