The world was hyped to see two billionaires fight inside a UFC Octagon. It all started in June when the Tesla owner and X (formerly Twitter) CEO Elon Musk missed a challenge to fight Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Zuckerberg, who has prior combat training, accepted the challenge.

Over the next few months, the two were seen training under various UFC fighters in order to help prepare for the Octagon fight. Big names were starting to be associated with this fight and its promotion. Although it had been cooking in the pot for a while, it turns out one of the two has decided to call it off – and for good.

The X CEO is known to be a man who likes to have a good time when he isn’t working. That is why, the fans weren’t surprised to see him celebrating the birthday of Russian-American scientist and podcaster, Lex Fridman.

The podcaster had uploaded a thread of pictures on Instagram, where he was seen celebrating his birthday with Elon Musk and Joe Rogan. The caption for the picture read, “Thank you for the birthday wishes! I got to celebrate it with amazing friends, including Elon Musk, @joerogan, and @hubermanlab, all who have brought so much fun, wisdom, and joy into my life. I’m truly grateful for this beautiful journey, and the love & kindness I’ve gotten along the way. Thank you for everything. I love you all!“.

According to sources, Lex Fridman and Elon Musk have been training together and in the picture that Fridman uploaded on his birthday, the two were seen in training outfits.

Musk, who was supposed to be fighting Mark Zuckerberg, seems to be occupied with other things at this point. The fight between the two spilled outside just the ‘Octagon’ as Mark Zuckerberg recently introduced the world to ‘Threads’ – a platform that is comparable to that of Musk’s X.

Why did the fight get called off? Mark Zuckerberg’s grievance against Elon Musk

Sources confirm that the fight was called off by Mark Zuckerberg and it seems the Meta CEO had his reasons. Although Musk had initially issued the challenge, Zuckerberg was forced to call off the fight after the Tesla owner showed little conviction and interest in actually following through with the fight.

In a Threads post, Zuckerberg said, “I think we can all agree Elon isn’t serious and it’s time to move on. Elon won’t confirm a date, then says he needs surgery, and now asks to do a practice round in my backyard instead.” UFC President Dana White was the man who was assigned to promote the fight. The potential fight between the two was the talk of the town. UFC Fighters like Israel Adesanya, Georges St-Pierre, and Alexander Volkanovski were seen training the two. However, it has all been nullified since the fight has been called off.

However, Zuckerberg has kept the door open as he had added, “If Elon ever gets serious about a real date and official event, he knows how to reach me.”, in his Threads post. But Musk is not one to sit tight as he introduced a new angle to the whole ‘Billionaire’s Fight’. He claimed that the has been doing enough to try to get Zuckerberg to fight but that the Meta CEO has been meeting all of his requests with ‘excuses’.

Apparently, a few days back, Musk had posted a screenshot of a conversation with Zuckerberg where the Meta owner was seen pressing Musk for a ‘real MMA fight’. Could this have led to Zuckerberg thinking that Musk might not be serious about the fight after all? Will Musk call for the fight again? Or has the fight been officially called off?
