The aftermath of UFC #2 Welterweight Colby Covington’s beef with UFC’s #1 pound-for-pound Heavyweight Jon Jones has taken an intriguing turn. Although the duo has been roommates for some time – way back in 2007, it seems like they’re not on good terms yet. After ‘Chaos’ recently mocked ‘Bones’ and made bold claims about his involvement in the Welterweight’s upcoming bout against Leon Edwards via Michael Bisping’s podcast – a flurry of opinions and reactions have ensued.
Amid these commentaries, one particularly amusing remark by a fellow welterweight has stood out the most. Guess who? It’s none other than Khabib Nurmagomedov’s teammate and #3 UFC Welterweight Belal Muhammad. So what does he have to say about this feud between the former roommates? Let’s hear it from the ‘Remember the Name’ himself!

Recently, Muhammad was featured in an interview with YouTuber and journalist, the Schmo. During his conversation with the journalist, he took his time to explain the narrative of the Jones-Covington beef. Moreover, he also shared his POV on why he thinks Jones is trying to avoid fighting on the same card as ‘Chaos.’
Schmo kicked off the discussion, asking for Muhammad’s take on the beef. With a touch of humor, he hinted at a cosmic twist. Muhammad playfully suggested, “I think that’s God trying to tell the UFC, like – Bully B[referring to himself] needs to fight for the title.” Implying that he should be given the opportunity to fight for the title – he humorously referred to himself as “Bully B.”

As the conversation deepened, Muhammad offered an intriguing take on why ‘Bones’ might be hesitant to share a card with Colby Covington. He declared, “He doesn’t want a weasel-like that on his card – and he earned it.” The #3 UFC Welterweight contender expressed a sense of camaraderie with Jones, referring to him as “my boy.” In his view, Jones might be reluctant to have someone like Covington on his card, labeling him as a “weasel.”

Muhammad’s candid words didn’t stop there. He emphasized that the ‘Bones’ had earned the right to choose the fighters who shared his card. This was especially true given his status as the Heavyweight champion and a dominant force in the division. Concluding his arguments, he further added, “Jon Jones could pick whoever he wants on his card. Why would you want a freaking clown like that on your card?… I think that he wants Bully B on his card. So – me and Leon – [UFC 295]co-main event – who wouldn’t want that!”
The Welterweight’s take on the situation unveiled a layer of insight into the dynamics of fighter relationships – when building fight cards. Moreover, his perspective on the Jones-Covington feud adds a new angle to the ongoing discourse. As the anticipation for UFC 295 builds, the possibility of seeing Muhammad and Leon Edwards as the co-main event brings an added layer of excitement to the fans. Edwards has already refused to fight with ‘Chaos’ at the UFC 295 PPV.
